The first gold edition in this size joins the classic collection
IWC adds a new golden edition to its classic Portofino Automatic Moon Phase collection, marking the first time the 40mm model is offered in a gold case.
Until now, the Portofino Automatic Moon Phase was available in two sizes 37mm and 40mm, with four of the five references crafted in stainless steel, plus a special edition for the Year of the Snake. The only gold variant had been the 37mm model with a diamond-set bezel.

The newly introduced 40mm gold edition brings the warmth of precious metal to the larger case size, without any diamonds on the bezel or dial. Measuring 11.1mm thick, the fully polished case is fitted with a solid gold caseback, engraved with specifications including its 30m water-resistance.
The silver-plated dial combines Roman numerals with slender baton hour markers and a clean minute track. Matching the golden case, the hands and markers are gold-plated. Taking center stage is the moon phase display at 12 o’clock, featuring a deep blue night sky adorned with golden stars and a golden moon.
Inside, the Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 40 mm is powered by the Calibre 35800, based on the Sellita SW300-1a. This automatic movement, measuring 25.6mm in diameter, delivers a 50-hour power reserve and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
Completing the watch is an alligator leather strap secured with an 18-carat 5N gold pin buckle. This new reference joins the collection as a permanent edition, priced at AED 75,100.
