A Trio of Uniquely Colored Watches from the Régulateur à Détente Masterpiece
Following the success of his Régulateur à détente RP1 timepiece, Raúl Pagès has emerged as one of the rising stars in the independent watchmaker field. Notably, he clinched the Louis Vuitton Watch Prize 2023-2024 for this masterpiece, a recognition we discussed earlier. Now, he embarks on a collaboration with Anita Porchet, a prominent figure renowned for her expertise in enamel painting, particularly on watch dials. Anita Porchet's distinguished career includes collaborations with prestigious watchmaking brands such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, and Jaeger-LeCoultre.
Together, Raúl Pagès and Anita Porchet seek to create a unique fusion of independent craftsmanship. They have crafted three special pieces, one of which has already been sold through the A Collected Man website. This example of the Régulateur à Détente RP1, which stands apart from the serially-produced examples, is one of just three, each with a unique colourway.
The RP1 Régulateur à détente remains untouched, housed in a polished stainless steel case measuring 38.5mm in diameter and a slender 10.2 mm in thickness, exuding elegance on the wrist. The midcase, horizontally satinated, is sandwiched by rounded bezels on the dial and movement side, both highly polished. The lugs, each secured to the midcase by two screws
Its blue main dial boasts a matte Grand Feu enamel finish laid over an 18k white gold base, complemented by glossy yellow Grand Feu enamel for the subdials. The colors underwent approximately seven adjustments before achieving the desired hues, reflecting the intricate and challenging nature of the enameling process.

As a regulator timepiece, it features three distinct indications for displaying time, each with its own unique design elements. For instance, the hour indication is positioned at 12 o'clock on a raised ring, while the minute hand travels along a cantilevered chapter ring around the dial's perimeter. Lastly, the small seconds are displayed on a yellow sub-dial located at 6 o’clock.
Boasting a hand-wound caliber outfitted with a pivoted detent escapement, the Régulateur à détente RP1 upholds the tradition of exceptional chronometers. Its in-house-made movement operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour (vph).
Technically, the detent escapement is considered "free" because it ensures the balance is not under any stress during its additional arc. Unlike the traditional Swiss escapement, this system allows the escapement wheel to transmit its force directly to the balance wheel, resulting in significantly improved mechanical efficiency.
The watch comes with a black leather strap, and polished stainless steel pin buckle. this is one of just three, each with a unique colourway while the price is upon request.
