Art and engineering unite in the second collaboration with Daniel Arsham
Last year, Hublot collaborated with American artist Daniel Arsham to create the MP-16 Droplet, a mechanical pocket watch distinguished by its unique water droplet shape. A year later, the partnership returns to explore a similar concept—this time in wristwatch form. The result is the striking Hublot MP-17 MECA-10 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire.

Departing from conventional shapes such as circles, squares, or rectangles, the MP-17 embraces an organic, fluid form that evokes the image of a splash of water.
The 42 mm case, crafted from micro-blasted and polished titanium, stands 15.35 mm high. The glass bead-blasted finish gives the surface a distinctive texture, as if condensation has formed upon it. For a hand-wound manufacture movement, the proportions are relatively compact, though the watch will still feel substantial on slimmer wrists. True to Hublot’s design DNA, six H-shaped titanium screws accent the satin-finished, box-shaped bezel and the anti-reflective sapphire crystal caseback.
A teardrop-shaped aperture showcases the skeletonised dial, rendered in rhodium-plated and micro-blasted surfaces and treated with Super-LumiNova in Arsham Green.
This subtle hue extends to the hour and minute hands, Arabic numerals, and hour and five-minute markers. The small seconds sub-dial sits at 9 o’clock, balanced by a power reserve indicator in PVD grey at 3 o’clock. Even the flange with its 60-minute scale follows the watch’s irregular contour, accentuating its fluid aesthetic.
At the heart of the MP-17 beats Hublot’s in-house skeletonised calibre HUB1205, introduced earlier this year. This movement enabled the downsizing of the MECA-10 collection from 45 mm to 42 mm.
The manual-winding calibre operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and offers an impressive 240-hour (10-day) power reserve via two skeletonised barrels, easily tracked through the power reserve display. The barrels are visible beneath three parallel bridges finished with satin brushing and hand-polished chamfers. All components are coated in grey PVD, harmonising with the titanium case.
Completing the design is a black rubber strap with a Charmille-grain texture and a printed Arsham monogram, secured by an H-shaped titanium folding clasp that echoes the case screws.
The Hublot MP-17 MECA-10 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire is limited to just 99 pieces, available exclusively at Hublot boutiques and authorised retailers, priced at €69,000 (approximately AED 293,400).
