Vibrant as the magical hues of Miami's sunset
The Hublot Big Bang collection is a line of luxury watches produced by the Swiss watchmaker Hublot. The collection was first introduced in 2005 and has since become one of the brand's most iconic and popular series. The Big Bang watches are known for their distinctive and bold design, combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with innovative materials and modern aesthetics. After Hublot amazed us with their last special timepieces made for Dubai Watch Week 2023, featuring their beautiful Arabic calligraphy dial, now Hublot turns its attention to the far west, specifically to the vibrant city of Miami. The magic hues of the sunset paint the sky in a spectrum of colors, serving as a true muse for Hublot's latest creation.
The new watch boasts a 42mm size, enhancing the black ceramic case's versatility across a broader range of wrist sizes. Typically, the black ceramic case features a predominantly micro-sand blasted finish. With ceramic's natural scratch resistance, this watch will maintain its pristine appearance for an extended period barring any unfortunate high drops that could result in cracking. Moreover, the Big Bang Unico framework is designed to meet the requirements of daily wear, offering a 100-meter water-resistant chronograph. and topped with a crystal sapphire with anti-reflective treatment.
The openworked dial showcasing much of the movement. From a technical standpoint, the dial is referred to as "matte black openworked," resulting in predominantly gray and black tones. Despite this, the '80s new-wave-inspired pink-to-blue gradient applied to the hour indices and flyback chronograph counters adds vibrancy, overshadowing the otherwise monochromatic theme. Starting from a vivid pink on the left, the dial transitions toward the center and concludes with a bright turquoise blue on the right. This gradient extends to each counter, whether on the palm tree-motif small seconds counter at 9 o'clock, the 60-minute elapsed minutes scale of the counter at 3 o'clock, or the sloped outer minutes track. The 3 o'clock counter also incorporates a legible date window.
Under the transparent case back the in-house automatic flyback chronograph HUB1280 caliber, operates at 28,800 VpH and offering a 72-hour power reserve. The bridges are matte and darkened, featuring a double coupling system and a column-wheel visible from the dial side. The construction, consisting of 354 components, has been simplified as much as possible to enhance reliability and robustness.
The gradient of colors smoothly continues onto the calf leather strap, one of the two included options with the Magic City. Just like the dial, the front of the strap begins with a vibrant pink shade that gradually shifts to purple in the center and transforms into blue towards the right. For a more understated appearance, you have the option to use Hublot's one-click interchangeable system to easily replace it with the black rubber strap.
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Magic City is limited to 35 pieces exclusive for Miami boutique or via Hublot e shop, priced at USD 24,700 which is equivalent to 90,000 AED.
