Introducing Haute-Rive Expands the Honoris Collection with the Meccanica Editions

The movement boasting 1,000-hour power reserve reveals its mechanics on the dial

Haute-Rive is a rising independent watchmaking atelier founded by Stéphane von Gunten. The first watch created under his own name, introduced in 2023, was the Honoris, a timepiece distinguished by its impressive 1,000-hour power reserve. Since then, the model has undergone several design refinements and appeared in multiple editions. Now, Stéphane von Gunten reveals the movement on the dial side, unveiling the Haute-Rive Honoris Meccanica in three distinct versions.

The new Honoris Meccanica adopts the redesigned case introduced last year. It measures 42.5 mm in diameter and 11.95 mm in thickness, and is crafted entirely from 18k white gold. Its fully polished, classically rounded case is topped with a crimped-edge bezel that is not merely decorative, but functional.

Indeed, the bezel serves to wind the mechanical movement, a necessity given the torque required to charge the 3-metre-long mainspring. As a result, the crown is reserved exclusively for time-setting, while a pusher operates the function selector.

The power reserve indicator is positioned on the caseback. The watch also features an ingenious function selector driven by a column wheel, allowing the wearer to set the time via the crown without pulling it out.

What truly distinguishes the Honoris Meccanica is its display: the movement is no longer hidden behind a dial, but becomes the dial itself. Its three-dimensional architecture reveals a radiating structure at the centre, organised around the HR monogram. Gears and wheels, the column wheel and its levers, as well as the keyless works, all contribute to a more radical, highly technical aesthetic.

The Honoris Meccanica is available in three interpretations:

  • Honoris Meccanica Rhodium – white gold case with a rhodium microblasted mainplate and blued hands
  • Honoris Meccanica Ruthenium – white gold case with a ruthenium-coated mainplate and blued hands
  • Honoris Meccanica Rosso – a bolder execution in white gold, featuring a ruthenium-coated mainplate, a red anodised aluminium ring, microblasted rhodium-plated brass hands, and a red strap

Powering the watch is Stéphane von Gunten’s inaugural calibre, the HR01—a manually wound movement delivering an extraordinary 1,000-hour power reserve (over 40 days) from a single barrel. This oversized barrel, housing a 3-metre-long mainspring, is integrated into the mainplate and operates at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz).

On one side, the barrel drives the power reserve indicator on the caseback, which displays a 360-degree graduated scale from 0 to 1,000 for optimal legibility. On the other, it engages a differential linking the barrel to both the gear train and the winding mechanism. Winding is performed by rotating the bezel counterclockwise.

All three versions are paired with a hand-stitched leather strap secured by a white gold pin buckle.

The Haute-Rive Honoris Meccanica is produced in extremely limited quantities of approximately 10 watches per year. The Rosso edition is further restricted to just eight pieces. All versions are priced at CHF 158,000 (approximately AED 735,700).
