A black-to-blue gradient dial inspired by the ocean’s depths
Founded in 1882 in the heart of Germany’s Black Forest, Hanhart has long been synonymous with precision and durability. From pioneering stopwatches to producing wrist chronographs that became essential tools for military and aviation professionals, the brand built its name on uncompromising engineering and design. Over the decades, Hanhart has remained true to its roots while evolving with modern expectations, and today, its timepieces reflect a refined balance of heritage craftsmanship and technical innovation. One of the brand’s most robust contemporary lines is the AQUASPHERE collection, a series of diving watches purpose-built for professionals and demanding enthusiasts alike. This summer, the collection welcomes a new addition, the AQUASPHERE Ocean Fade.
The watch features a 42mm case crafted from brushed and polished stainless steel. At 12.95mm thick, the case maintains a relatively slim profile for a dive watch. The screw-down crown, adorned with a modern Hanhart “h”, sits protected between subtle crown guards. The case comes with a blue or black bezel featuring a ceramic inlay and red marking, and can be rotated counterclockwise with 60 clicks. A helium escape valve ensures the watch can handle saturation diving, while the screw-down caseback, engraved with an aquatic scene and individual serial number, reinforces its 300-meter water resistance and full compliance with DIN 8310 standards.
The dial transitions from deep black at the base to vibrant blue at the top, a conceptual nod to a diver’s descent through light and shadow. As one moves deeper into the sea, light fades and darkness takes over, and the dial captures that experience with elegance. Large luminescent Arabic numerals and hands, treated with Super-LumiNova C1 GL X2, ensure excellent legibility in both daylight and deep-sea darkness.
Powering the watch is the Soprod P024 automatic movement in its top-grade configuration. It beats at 28,800 vph (4Hz), offers a 38-hour power reserve, and features a Glucydur balance with Incabloc double-cone shock protection. The movement is regulated in-house by Hanhart’s watchmakers to run between 0 and +8 seconds per day across six positions.
