A Limited Edition Created in Collaboration with Porsche Fahrer Magazine
Hanhart presents an exclusive edition created in collaboration with Porsche Fahrer Magazin: the new 417 ES Mocha Flyback Date, a timepiece that unites two seemingly different worlds yet shares the same DNA, a passion for precision, character, and timeless design.
What began in the Black Forest with the art of precision mechanical watchmaking finds its counterpart in the world of motorsport, where technology, performance, and style merge into an emotional unity. The 417 ES Mocha Flyback Date builds a bridge between tradition and modernity. It combines the iconic design of the historic 417 ES, once built for pilots, with contemporary high-end watchmaking, a chronograph that breathes history, embodies passion, and carries the spirit of innovation into the future.
The 42 mm stainless-steel case, with a height of 13.3 mm, features a refined mix of satin-finished and polished surfaces. A smooth, polished bezel gives the watch elegant, flowing lines, while a high-domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inside ensures clear readability. The transparent caseback reveals the finely decorated movement, a detail that underscores the watch’s mechanical sophistication.
As with other Hanhart pilot’s chronographs, the 417 ES Mocha Flyback Date features the distinctive red pusher, a hallmark rich with meaning. Legend has it that a pilot’s mistress once painted the chronograph pusher red so he would always remember her during missions and return safely. Historically, however, the red color served a practical purpose, preventing pilots from accidentally resetting the chronograph, which was especially important for watches equipped with a flyback function. Today, the red HyCeram pusher symbolizes Hanhart’s fusion of tradition, safety, and unmistakable style.
The mocha-brown dial with white Arabic numerals offers excellent contrast for optimal legibility. The date window at 6 o’clock is harmoniously integrated into the symmetrical layout. The Arabic numerals and central hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova X2 C1, ensuring clear visibility even in low light.
At its heart beats the hand-wound AMT5100 M movement from Sellita’s Manufacture AMT department, a column-wheel chronograph caliber with a flyback function, date display, small seconds, 30-minute counter, and a 58-hour power reserve. Beating at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), the movement is shock-resistant and meticulously regulated at the Hanhart manufactory.
Hanhart’s standards for precision are as exceptional as its watches. Each movement is individually tested and adjusted by highly skilled watchmakers in Gütenbach. The brand’s in-house specifications demand an impressive rate accuracy of 0 to +8 seconds per day on average across six positions.
The watch is available on either a dark brown calfskin strap with Alcantara lining or a stainless-steel bracelet. The leather strap includes a historic lower band, reminiscent of pilot’s watches from the 1960s and ’70s. Originally, this lower band served a practical purpose, protecting the wrist from irritation caused by early copper or brass cases. Today, it endures as an aesthetic nod to history. Thanks to the quick-change system, the lower strap can be removed within seconds, offering flexibility between a vintage-inspired look and modern simplicity.
The Hanhart 417 ES Mocha Flyback Date is limited edition to 200 pieces, and priced at EURO 2,690 equivalent to 14,200 AED with a leather strap, and EURO 2,890 equivalent to 15,250 AED with a stainless steel bracelet.
