The '60s-inspired collection gets an elegant black aesthetic
Hamilton is revisiting its vintage chronograph roots with a new trio of stealthy, all-black Intra-Matic Auto Chrono models. These timepieces blend retro design with modern execution, offering a contemporary take on Hamilton’s rich history with automatic chronographs.
Intra-Matic Auto Chrono collection is a modern reworking of a signature 1968 piece. It comes with the exclusive H-31 automatic movement, based on the iconic Valjoux 7753. Over the years, Hamilton has paid tribute to this legacy with various iterations of the Intra-Matic, and the latest blacked-out versions continue this tradition with a bold new aesthetic.

Each of the new models features a 40mm stainless steel case with a black PVD coating, measuring 14.45mm in thickness. The design remains faithful to the collection’s past, with angled lugs, a sloping bezel, and a classic bicompax chronograph layout. A sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while the solid, screw-down steel caseback, also coated in black, ensures a water resistance rating of 100 meters. While the original Chrono-Matic had its crown positioned on the left side, this modern iteration places the crown and pushers on the right.
The dial comes in matte black, with the only splashes of color appearing on the tachymeter scale and central chronograph seconds hand, available in orange, white, or yellow. The applied indices are treated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring legibility in low-light conditions. The hands also feature Super-LumiNova, and the two subdials display the 30-minute chronograph at 3 o’clock and the small seconds at 9 o’clock. Additionally, the date window is positioned at 6 o’clock.

The watch is powered by the Calibre H-31, an automatic movement that operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and boasts a 60-hour power reserve. Each model is paired with a racing-style black perforated leather strap, featuring an underside in white, orange, or yellow to match the dial accents, and a black PVD-coated pin buckle for secure fastening. This trio joins the brand’s permanent collection and is priced at CHF 2,295, approximately AED 9,600.
