Harmonizing the Chinese lunisolar calendar with the solar Gregorian calendar, in the iconic endeavour case
H. Moser & Cie is a luxury Swiss watch manufacturer renowned for its high-quality timepieces and distinctive designs. The company was founded by Heinrich Moser in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1828. Today, H. Moser & Cie is headquartered in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and it continues to produce luxury watches that blend traditional Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship with exceptional complications. Here at a WAQT we will delve into the company's goals in expanding its collections by adding a new calendar.

Today, Moser collaborates with the Swiss watchmaking company Agenhor SA and ascends further into the realm of complications, unveiling a balanced display of the Chinese calendar complication, and introducing the “ Endeavour Chinese Calendar Limited Edition”. This timepiece seamlessly blends the intricate Chinese lunisolar calendar with the Gregorian solar calendar signifying the fusion of two rich cultures.

It elegantly displays not only the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac but also the phases of the moon, all while maintaining accuracy without the need for corrections over a span of 12 years. The watch unites the sun and the moon, seamlessly synchronizing elements from both solar and lunar calendars, presented in an elegant design that ensures ease of use and readability.

This watch features a luxurious 5N red gold polished endeavour case with a diameter of 40 mm and 13 mm of thickness. It boasts a sapphire crystal on the top with a crown that is adorned with the "M" emblem resembling “Moser”, and a clear view of the intricate inner workings of the timepiece through a see-through case-back.

The Midnight Blue fumé dial boasts a captivating sunburst pattern, adorned with applied gold indices that enhance its luxurious appearance. At 12 o’clock, a window reveals the Chinese lunisolar year and the associated zodiac animal, including the embolismic month that introduced a 13th leap month, a concept often associated with the occurrence of a "blue moon”. The hour and minute hands take on an elegant gold leaf shape, alongside the small seconds hand. The dial incorporates crescent-shaped windows on the left for displaying the Chinese lunisolar months and on the right for indicating Chinese lunisolar days and moon phases, all beautifully highlighted with round retrograde gold hands, and a small seconds display positioned at 6 o'clock, with a Gregorian calendar window under it.

Powering the timepiece is the HMC 210 caliber which is based on the HMC 200, developed by Agenhor SA, an automatic movement that has been enhanced with a Chinese calendar. It operates at 21,600 vph (3Hz), and features a bi-directional pawl winding system with an 18k gold rotor. The movement boasts the Straumann hairspring, and 72 hours of power reserve.
