The Rising Brand Reinvents the Jumping Hour Display with a Unique Twist
The U.S.-based microbrand Grandeur founded by Belal Shaher focuses on experimental time displays and artistic expression, frequently stepping away from classic layouts in favor of creative complications and architectural aesthetics.

With the introduction of the Monocle collection, the brand unveils a new concept presented across four editions, showcasing a fresh interpretation of the iconic jumping hours complication. Grandeur combines jumping hour discs with a retrograde indication, merging both complications into a cohesive display expressed through an entirely new design language. This concept is powered by a newly developed movement created specifically for the collection.
The Monocle is housed in a refined 42 mm titanium case, measuring just 10 mm in thickness. The caseband features a meteorite ring, color-matched to the Jump Flap Hour display of each respective model. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the exhibition caseback—also fitted with sapphire crystal—is engraved with the individual limited-edition number.

Both the dial and chapter ring are sculpted entirely from authentic meteorite stone, each revealing a unique Widmanstätten pattern formed over millions of years in space, ensuring that no two watches are alike. The meteorite dial is coated in four colors—purple, dark grey, blue, and gold—although the brand has not disclosed the specific coating technique used.
The focal point of the display is the so-called “Jump Flap Hour,” positioned beneath an arched aperture spanning from 10 to 2 o’clock at the top of the dial. Conceptually, it can be described as a stylized retrograde display with a dynamic scale. In a traditional retrograde display—such as the retrograde minutes positioned below, the scale remains static, and the hand snaps back to the starting point once it reaches the end.
In the Jump Flap Hour system, however, the scale itself is mounted on a rotating disc, while the hand—shaped as the collection’s signature monocle ring, travels along the scale to indicate the current hour before instantaneously jumping to the next.
At its core lies Grandeur’s in-house Jump Flap Hour Module, a world-first complication officially registered and patented under the brand’s name. This proprietary mechanism reimagines hour indication through an instantaneous jumping “flap” aperture, paired with a sweeping retrograde minute display that resets with controlled mechanical precision.

Driving this innovation is the re-engineered Calibre 5000A, based on a Hangzhou movement and featuring what Grandeur describes as the world’s first stone micro-rotor, crafted from natural meteorite. This cosmic material choice transforms the winding mechanism into a visual and conceptual extension of the watch’s celestial theme. The movement offers a 42-hour power reserve and operates at 28,800 vph (4 Hz).

The Grandeur Monocle collection is offered in four editions: Violetta (purple), Noctis (dark grey), and Azuris (blue), each limited to 100 pieces, while the Aureum (golden) edition is limited to just 35 pieces. Pricing is set at AED 11,930 for the standard editions, while the Aureum is priced at AED 15,657.
