Guilloché-patterned dials add a distinctive touch to the classic design
Grand Seiko refreshes its long-standing Elegance Collection Automatic GMT with two new references featuring guilloché-patterned dials in silver and deep blue. While preserving the original silhouette, proportions, and refined character of one of the brand’s most iconic designs, these new variations express Grand Seiko’s distinctive Japanese aesthetic in a subtly evolved way. Introducing the Elegance GMT SBGM255 “Snowdrop” and SBGM257 “Moondrop.”
This time, Grand Seiko has opted for a more geometric decorative approach reminiscent of traditional guilloché. The result is a dial style that distinguishes this new pair from the brand’s already rich stable of textured dials.

Importantly, both watches are equipped with a true traveller’s GMT complication. The local hour hand can be adjusted independently in one-hour increments via the crown, allowing the wearer to change time zones without interrupting the minutes or seconds—ideal for frequent travelers.

For 2025, there are minimal updates to the case design. The watches remain crafted in polished stainless steel, finished with Grand Seiko’s signature Zaratsu technique. However, the thickness increases slightly from 13.7mm to 14.1mm, likely due to the dial now being fully engraved rather than sunray brushed—requiring a thicker dial plate to achieve the pronounced three-dimensional effect.
The dial features a repeating rhombus pattern that begins elongated at the center and gradually widens toward the edge. A 24-hour inner ring intersects the pattern inside the hour markers—an established hallmark of Grand Seiko’s Automatic GMT layout. A framed date window is positioned clearly at 3 o’clock, ensuring excellent legibility on both models.

The SBGM255 “Snowdrop” embraces a winter-inspired palette, pairing a crisp white dial with cool blue accents, including a heat-blued GMT hand and matching 24-hour scale.
The SBGM257 “Moondrop” offers a richer, more atmospheric interpretation, said to evoke the soft illumination of autumn moonlight. It features a deep navy dial, accented by gold tones on the GMT hand and inner scale.
Both watches are powered by the in-house Calibre 9S66, a reliable 4Hz automatic movement with a 72-hour power reserve and an accuracy rating of +5 to -3 seconds per day.
Each model is fitted with a crocodile leather strap—black for the Snowdrop and blue for the Moondrop—secured by a three-fold clasp with push-button release. The SBGM255 Snowdrop and SBGM257 Moondrop join the permanent Grand Seiko collection and will be available from December 2025, priced at EUR 5,200, approximately 22,000 AED.
