The German brand’s first inverted movement with a moon phase complication
Glashütte Original, the Saxon brand known for its exceptional craftsmanship, and producing in-house movements. One of the brand’s icons is the "Pano" collection, featuring elegant asymmetric dials, such as in the PanoMaticInverse, that exemplify the brand’s dedication to detail and the art of German watchmaking.
Now, the German brand is adding a new release to this collection: the PanoLunarInverse, the first model from Glashütte Original to feature an inversely constructed movement with a moon phase display. This elegant platinum watch features a case that measures 42 mm in diameter and 12.46 mm in thickness. The dial and movement are protected by sapphire crystal, ensuring durability and clarity, while the watch also offers 50 meters of water resistance.
The new model features a gray guilloché dial and presents an unconventional design, with key movement parts mounted inversely to be visible from the dial side, much like the PanoMaticInverse. The balance wheel is positioned at 4 o’clock beneath a rhodium-plated bridge adorned with fine guilloché decoration. Time and moon phase can be read through a sub-dial crafted from aventurine glass, which evokes a starry sky. Originally produced by master glassmakers in Murano, Italy, in the 17th century, aventurine is prized for its fine sparkle and intense color.
The moon is 3D laser-engraved to reflect the craters and mountains of the real lunar surface. Although the moon traditionally heralds the night, it's quiet presence can be seen at any hour with the PanoLunarInverse, as it is still visible beneath the gray-blue sapphire crystal. The dial also features a large date window positioned at 2 o'clock and a sapphire crystal small seconds counter beneath the time and moon phase disc.
The watch is driven by the automatic calibre 91-04, which operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) and provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The movement features a skeletonized rotor, beautifully adorned with a domed moon. The timepiece is offered with either a gray Louisiana alligator nubuck leather strap or a blue synthetic strap crafted from yarn made entirely of recycled materials. Limited to just 200 pieces, the watch is priced at EUR 44,900, or AED 176,300.
