The German company Glashütte Original takes this month seriously. While most companies are taking a rest, Glashütte Original has launched its second release after its first elegant lady watch. Now, the company turns back to one of its famous collections, the Senator Excellence. First introduced in 2016, at Baselworld. It is an offspring of the more considerable Senator collection, distinguished by a subtly modern and elegant aesthetic. The Senator Excellence collection has expanded to encompass various models, including time-only pieces, the iconic Panorama Date with or without a Moon Phase indication, and Perpetual Calendar variations.
The recent additions to the Senator Excellence family are the stainless steel editions of the Panorama Date Moon Phase and Perpetual Calendar timepieces, featuring galvanized gray dials.
This perpetual calendar case maintains its dimensions at 42mm in diameter and 12.8mm in thickness, made of polished and satin-finished stainless steel. Like all the watches in the Senator Excellence line, this new variant was designed with the highest demands on suitability for everyday use, durability and timeless aesthetics.
The grey galvanized dial, the Panorama Date, as well as the weekday and month windows, are subtly set off by small frames apertures at 10 and 2 o’clock. The leap years are visualized with the help of a separate display below 12 o'clock. The moon phase resides in a sub-dial at 7 o’clock, featuring a silver moon against a galvanic blue backdrop. The Roman numerals in solid gold are coated in blue, while the hour and minute hands in steel are traditionally blued. The applied numerals and the fine graining of the dial surface give the model a classically elegant face full of contrasts and visual depth. A blue railroad track minutes counter on the periphery frames the central stage.It includes a blued steel leap year indication hand and a blue center seconds hand with the double-G logo. Notably, all Roman hour indices are now present.
The sapphire crystal case back provides an unobstructed view of the finely finished automatic movement, the Caliber 36-12. This automatic movement is a perpetual calendar module, notable for its impressive 100-hour power reserve with an antimagnetic silicon hairspring, exceeding COSC certification standards for chronometry, and beating at 4 hertz. Embodying the high Glashütte watchmaking art, the movement features the characteristic three-quarter plate, noble stripe finish, perlage, blued screws, and fine polish on the gears. The two-tone galvanized balance cock is hand-engraved, and the rotor is skeletonized, bearing the double-G logo. The Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar is priced at EURO 24,000, equivalent to 96,000 AED.
This Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase presents itself in a stainless steel case with a 40mm x 12.2mm and impresses with its clear and functional design. Polished and satin- finished surfaces on the case reflect the light, while the finely fluted crown is adorned with the brand's typical double-G logo. this crown intuitive control without additional correctors. In position 1, the crown facilitated winding, while position 2 allowed the date and moon phase adjustment. Position 3 allowed the owner to set the time of day effortlessly.
In this new variant, the dial is a galvanic gray too, and has a finely grained embossing. The display discs of the Panorama Date At 4 o’clock show white numerals on a matt blue background and ensure optimal readability. The Roman numerals in solid gold are coated in blue while the elegant hour and minute hands in steel are traditionally blued. The applied numerals and the velvety surface texture lend the face of this model exciting contrasts and visual depth. between 10 and 11 o’clock, The moon phase display harmoniously combines functionality and aesthetics, the moon disc is also elaborately manufactured in-house. In this model, it is made of German silver and galvanized in blue. Then two round moons are diamond- turned, which gives them their curved shape and shine. Although the moon disc has two moons, the small cut-out in the dial always shows only one moon in its various phases.
powering this timepiece the Glashütte Original automatic Caliber 36-24, celebrated for its technical prowess and aesthetic finesse, it has a remarkable power reserve of at least 100 hours and an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring that guarantees precision and reliability. When correctly set, the moon phase indicator can run for 122 years without correction assuming the watch remains consistently wound, of course. Like all Senator Excellence models, this exquisite mechanical timepiece bears a special engraving in the form of a “Q,” symbolizing a particularly high standard of quality, confirmed by an individual test certificate.
A blue Louisiana alligator leather strap, a robust blue synthetic strap with double-folding clasp or a stainless steel bracelet complete the overall look of this stylish timepiece. The SENATOR EXCELLENCE PANORAMA DATE MOON PHASE priced at EURO 12,500, equivalent to 46,000 AED.
