Sébastien Billières Draws Inspiration from His Childhood Passion for Racing Cars
Genus merges its iconic GNS design with the thrilling world of motorsports. Step into an arena where precision, performance, and speed converge in a timepiece like no other. Introducing the GNS Time2Race, GENUS reimagines the passage of time as an endless pursuit—where mechanics and motion fuse into pure adrenaline.
Conceived by Master Watchmaker Sébastien Billières, this exceptional creation is deeply rooted in his childhood memories—days spent immersed in the world of racing circuits and collectible miniature cars. His grandfather’s legendary boutique, a haven filled with race cars, model tracks, and rare collector’s items, drew enthusiasts from across Europe. It was a place of wonder for Sébastien and his sister, igniting a lifelong passion for intricate mechanics and kinetic artistry.
Crafted from lightweight yet robust Grade 5 titanium, the 43 mm case stands 14.3 mm high and is topped with a domed “glass box” sapphire crystal. The case back features a transparent sapphire crystal as well, with both crystals treated with anti-reflective coating for optimal legibility. The crown, made of luxurious 18K rose gold in a warm 4N hue, is engraved with raised G-E-N-U-S lettering around its circumference to enhance grip while winding. Water resistance is rated at approximately 30 meters.
On the dial, the signature “8-path” of Genus—symbolizing infinity—becomes a racing circuit. The hand-hammered black décor evokes the coarse texture of asphalt, contrasting vividly with the gleaming gold of the sculpted micro-cars. Three hand-engraved 18K rose gold miniature racing cars animate the dial in a dynamic, never-ending chase that brings the passage of time to life:
At the heart of the GNS Time2Race beats the in-house Caliber 160W-1.2, offering a 50-hour power reserve and operating at 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz). Every component of the movement is designed, assembled, and hand-finished by Sébastien Billières in close collaboration with his team, exemplifying dedication to haute horlogerie craftsmanship.
Completing the piece is a black rubber strap with folded edges and refined top stitching, secured by a Grade 5 titanium folding clasp for enhanced comfort and durability. Priced at CHF 92,500, the GNS Time2Race is approximately equivalent to AED 418,800.
