A rare meteorite dial paired with a full ceramic case
Formex has always approached watchmaking with an engineering mindset focused on comfort and precision, blending Swiss expertise with high tech materials and functional design. Since its establishment in Biel, the brand has developed technical solutions that enhance comfort, durability and performance. Supported by its family owned manufacturing partners that specialize in cases, bracelets and dials, Formex has built a level of vertical expertise that sets it apart in the market. This foundation shaped the Essence Ceramica collection, a series designed to explore the possibilities of zirconium oxide ceramic in a modern, everyday timepiece.
This year introduces a new chapter for the collection with the Essence Ceramica COSC Dark Matter, a model featuring a specialty dial cut from the Muonionalusta meteorite and treated to reveal a deep, shifting pattern that contrasts beautifully with the ceramic case.

The watch features a 41 mm case crafted from zirconium oxide ceramic, a material chosen for its scratch resistance, color stability and light weight. It measures 11.2 mm in thickness and integrates Formex’s patented Case Suspension System inside a Grade 2 titanium container. The sapphire crystal on the front carries five layers of anti reflective coating for clarity. At the back, the case is fitted with a sapphire display window that protects the movement while ensuring water resistance to 100 meters.

Each dial is cut from solid Muonionalusta meteorite and finished with a dark nickel treatment that sharpens the natural Widmanstätten pattern. Because the crystalline structure forms over millions of years in space, every dial is naturally unique. Gun metal indices and hands filled with BGW9 Super LumiNova complement the surface. A beveled date window sits at 6 o’clock with a tone on tone date disc that preserves the harmony of the dial.

Powering the watch is the automatic Soprod Newton P092, a movement developed according to Formex specifications and chosen for its symmetrical architecture. It beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of 44 hours. Each movement is Chronofiable tested and officially certified by COSC.
The model comes on a full ceramic bracelet with vertically brushed surfaces and polished bevels. It includes a patented micro adjustment system that allows the wearer to fine tune the fit quickly and comfortably. Additional rubber, nylon and leather straps can be purchased separately and use Formex’s quick release system for easy changes. The watch is limited to a yearly production of 100 pieces and is priced at CHF 4,150, approximately AED 18,904.
Waqt is the official exclusive retailer for Formex in the UAE, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to experience these exceptional timepieces firsthand. You can explore and order Formex watches from our E-shop.
