Introducing Fears Unveils the Brunswick 40 “1846 Edition”

A Special Edition for British Watchmakers’ Day Inspired by the Brand’s First Pocket Watch

Fears Brunswick creates an exclusive timepiece for the Alliance of British Watch & Clockmakers’ British Watchmakers’ Day. Available only for purchase at the event on 7 March 2026, the Fears Brunswick 40 ‘1846 Edition’ builds on the familiar form of the stainless-steel Brunswick 40. This special edition, however, is slightly slimmer and introduces a brand-new movement. It is meticulously crafted from precious, hallmarked sterling silver (925).

Limited to just 25 numbered pieces, each watch features a dial inspired by the very first pocket watch created by Edwin Fear in 1846.

This release completes the trifecta of Fears sterling silver models, following the ‘1924 Edition’ (2024) and the ‘Edwardian Edition’ (2025), both produced for previous British Watchmakers’ Days. The ‘1846 Edition’ features an elegant 40mm cushion-shaped case with no flat surfaces, a 47mm lug-to-lug measurement, and a thickness of 11.1mm. Even the solid caseback follows the case’s gentle curvature. Crafted entirely from solid sterling silver, the case’s flowing lines are machined from 925 silver and finished with a deep, uniform polish that highlights the metal’s natural radiance.

Both the case and solid caseback bear hallmarks from the London Assay Office. In keeping with Fears tradition, the company’s registered maker’s mark reflects the initials of the managing director at the time of production—‘NBS’ for the fourth managing director, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill. Each caseback is also engraved with its individual edition number. In addition, every Fears watch carries a unique serial number engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, allowing the brand to trace each watch and its history.

The bespoke sterling silver ‘onion’-shaped winding crown features finely cut grooves that catch the light, adding a subtle touch of brilliance to the case profile. Set into the crown is a diamond—an emblem used by Fears to signify a case made entirely from precious metal.

The white dial is composed of multiple layers of hand-polished pure white lacquer and draws direct inspiration from Edwin Fear’s original 1846 pocket watch. Its dual-section, enamel-style construction creates depth and clarity, further enhanced by a generously recessed sub-seconds display.

The Fears maker’s mark and Roman numerals are printed as faithful recreations of those used on the brand’s dials in the late 1840s, when Fears was first established.

The spade-shaped hands of the Brunswick 40 ‘1846 Edition’ pay homage to examples preserved in the Fears archive from Edwin Fear’s original pocket watches. Each set of hands is thermally blued over an open flame, using the same traditional technique employed by Fears more than a century ago.

Powering the watch is a new calibre from La Joux-Perret: the Swiss-made, manually wound LJP G121M. Presented here in its top-grade specification, the movement delivers an impressive 60-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).

The Brunswick 40 ‘1846 Edition’ is paired with a handmade blue leather strap, secured by a bespoke, hallmarked sterling silver pin buckle. Limited to just 25 pieces, the Fears Brunswick 40 ‘1846 Edition’ is priced at GBP 4,350, approximately AED 21,560.
