A Limited Edition Inspired by One of the Netherlands’ Most Influential Art Movements
Ace Jewelers, the Amsterdam-based authorized retailer for Fears in the Netherlands, has partnered with the British brand Fears to present the Brunswick 38 “De Stijl Edition.” Based on the classic cushion-cased Brunswick, this special edition introduces a dial inspired by one of the Netherlands’ most influential art and design movements. The release also marks the final commemorative model celebrating Ace Jewelers’ landmark 50th anniversary in 2025.
Founded in 1917 by figures such as Piet Mondriaan and Theo van Doesburg, De Stijl sought to establish a universal visual language rooted in reduction, clarity, and the use of primary colors. Its philosophy aimed to create harmony and order through art, architecture, and design—principles that directly inspired the Fears × Ace Jewelers Brunswick 38 “De Stijl Edition.”
The watch features a 38 mm stainless steel cushion case with a lug-to-lug measurement of 42 mm and a thickness of 11.69 mm, including the domed sapphire crystal. The case showcases a refined contrast of finishes, with circular brushing on the top surface complemented by polished flanks and bezel. At 3 o’clock, a knurled, onion-shaped crown adds a distinctive touch to the robust yet elegant case design. Adjacent to it, each piece bears its individual limited-edition number, ranging from 01 to 50. A screw-down case back ensures water resistance up to 100 meters, and all watches are assembled in England.
The dial is a striking composition of yellow, blue, red, black, and grey geometric forms, designed by Fears’ in-house designer, Lee Yuen-Rapati. Beyond its visual appeal, the artwork serves a functional purpose: black rectangular elements act as hour markers, while the blue square at six o’clock forms the sub-seconds display. The black skeletonized hour and minute hands, CNC-milled from brass, feature the brand’s signature shape, while the sub-seconds hand is rendered in white for optimal legibility.
Powering the watch is the hand-wound La Joux-Perret D100 movement. Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, it features 18 jewels and delivers a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. The movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back.
The watch is fitted with a black buffalo leather strap secured by a stainless steel pin buckle. Limited to just 50 pieces, the Fears × Ace Jewelers Brunswick 38 “De Stijl Edition” is priced at GBP 3,550, equivalent to approximately AED 17,550.
