Gerald Charles, the independent Swiss watchmaking Maison founded by the great Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, unveils its most complicated watch since its reestablishment less than a decade ago. The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar, developed entirely in-house, marks a new chapter for the young and ambitious Maison as it continues to expand its repertoire of poetic complications.

In keeping with Gerald Charles’s “No Compromise” watchmaking philosophy, established by Mr. Genta more than a quarter of a century ago, the Masterlink Perpetual Calendar introduces an in-house, asymmetrical, automatic perpetual calendar calibre with a three-counter display.

Depancel expands its Série R collection with a new watch that is also inspired by classic sports cars. This time, it is not a chronograph; instead, it’s a complete calendar watch, the Série R01 Green, which features a green dial inspired by the world of motorsports. It keeps the same design as the first Série R Automatic Tangerine Chronograph but with a slightly slimmer case and entirely new functions on the dial.

With its distinctive square design, inspired by the grilles of classic sports cars, the Série R01 features a 43 × 36 mm stainless steel case with dynamic edges, bevelled at 6 and 12 o’clock for optimal ergonomics and a natural fit on the wrist.

The top of the case displays a vertical brushed finish, while the case sides alternate between horizontal brushing and polished surfaces for a refined contrast. Featuring sapphire glass and a 316L steel case, the Série R01 has a slim and elegant 12.9 mm profile (12 mm without the glass) and measures 50 mm from lug to lug.

The dial of the Série R01 comes in a green hue thanks to PVD coating, a color inspired by car racing. The dial features a two-level design with bold vertical lines reminiscent of vintage racing car air vents.

The “Depancel Dashboard” hands, inspired by dashboard gauges, and the track-like indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova C1 to ensure perfect readability in all conditions. Snailed subdials include a month counter at 3 o’clock, a 24-hour counter at 6 o’clock, a day subdial at 9 o’clock, and a date window at 4 o’clock.

The Série R01 is powered by the 9120 caliber, an automatic movement developed by Japanese manufacturer Miyota. Offering 40 hours of power reserve, it is renowned for its exemplary reliability and stands out for its meticulous design, which reduces wear points and guarantees excellent performance in all conditions. As a final nod to the automotive world, the oscillating weight features a radiator grille motif and bears the company shield logo, adorned with three tricolour stars.

The Série R01 Green comes with a leather strap, which you can choose in many designs and colors, closed with a stainless steel pin buckle. It is priced at 850 EUR, equivalent to 3,655 AED.
