Honoring the Brand's Iconic Design from the 1980s
Delma introduces a bold new addition to its Midland Automatic collection with a vibrant purple dial, a modern reinterpretation of a classic design. Drawing inspiration from Delma's history, this timepiece pays homage to the original Midland model from the 1980s. The Midland name carries historical significance for the brand, as it was one of the four original names established by Delma's founders in the 1920s.
This latest release skillfully marries vintage charm with contemporary aesthetics. The bold geometric forms harken back to the 1980s, while the integrated bracelet and tonneau-shaped case deliver a sleek, modern appeal. Following last year’s revival of the Midland Automatic collection with six editions, Delma continues the legacy with this striking new piece.
The Delma Midland Automatic features a stainless steel case measuring 40.5mm in diameter, 10.8mm in height, and 47mm lug-to-lug. Weighing 165 grams, the watch exudes a solid, high-quality feel. Its cushion-shaped case is complemented by a fluted bezel, which enhances the watch’s dual-tone visual appeal. With a water resistance of 100 meters, it is as functional as it is stylish.
The purple dial is undoubtedly the star of this timepiece. Its clous de paris guilloché pattern adds depth and texture, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Applied baton indices and Super-LumiNova BGW9-coated hour and minute hands ensure excellent legibility in all lighting conditions. The red-tipped seconds hand provides a subtle yet striking contrast, while a discreet white date window at 3 o’clock completes the dial’s balanced design.
Under the crystal sapphire case back is the reliable Sellita SW 200-1 caliber. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), this automatic movement offers a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the movement features a customized rotor engraved with Delma’s branding, adding a personal touch to the mechanism.
The integrated bracelet design ensures a smooth transition from the case to the bracelet, enhancing the watch’s cohesive aesthetic. Crafted from stainless steel, the three-link bracelet alternates between brushed and polished finishes, adding visual interest. The butterfly deployment clasp, equipped with pushers, provides a secure and user-friendly closure system.
The Delma Midland Automatic in purple is priced at CHF 1,235, approximately AED 4,960.
