Enamel dials inspired by classic cars, in collaboration with artist Guy Allen
De Rijke & Co. launches three new limited-edition driver’s watches created in collaboration with automotive illustrator Guy Allen. The partnership between De Rijke & Co. and Guy Allen spans eight years, beginning with illustrations to promote the company’s first timepieces. By 2024, this creative collaboration evolved into the development of the first series of Amalfi Special Editions Land, Sea, and Air.
The De Rijke & Co. Amalfi was conceived as a driver’s watch. Its two-piece case can be rotated through 90 degrees, ensuring the dial remains upright while the wearer’s hands are on the steering wheel. This second edition focuses entirely on classic car culture, with three iconic vehicles inspiring exquisite enamel miniature artworks.
Departing from earlier iterations, the new Amalfi watches feature fully ceramic cases. While some watchmakers combine ceramic with steel underpinnings, De Rijke & Co. undertook the time-consuming process of crafting a complete two-piece ceramic case. Paired with a sapphire crystal, the new Amalfi watch promises to be a dependable companion on any road trip. The case retains the dimensions of the Amalfi collection, measuring 38.2 mm in diameter and 11 mm in height, with 50 m water resistance.
Champlevé enamel dials have been a signature of all Amalfi special editions. The Amazon, Sahara, and Turini editions elevate the craft with 3D engraving. The lower half of each solid silver dial features engraved details with subtle variations in depth, overlaid with a polished layer of transparent grand feu enamel. The vibrant colours and exquisite play of light create a remarkable sense of three-dimensional depth.

Time is indicated by skeletonised hands, with the minute track and applied indices placed on the wide inner flange in black. The Amazon edition celebrates the Land Rover Defender, rendered in vivid enamel against a lush green backdrop evocative of adventurous road trips. The Sahara edition pays tribute to the rally heritage of the Porsche 911, with rich tones referencing desert racing and off-road exploration. Finally, the Turini edition draws inspiration from the Lancia Stratos.

This trio is powered by the Sellita SW300, an automatic movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. For this execution, De Rijke uses a high-grade version of the movement, complete with a stop-seconds mechanism for precise time setting.

The Amalfi Series 2 watches are presented on rubber straps with quick-release spring bars. This second series introduces notable advances in materials and craftsmanship, and is limited to 50 pieces per design. The price is EUR 4,595, approximately 19,600 AED.
