A Limited Edition Featuring a Distinctive Dial Celebrating Arabic Culture
Earlier this year, specifically in April, Cyrus Genève introduced a new model within the Dominion collection, marking the first expansion of the line for 2025. That release established the design direction and technical framework that would define the collection’s identity moving forward.
Now, with the opening of Dubai Watch Week, the region’s most influential horological event, the brand presents a new addition to the same collection — the "Dominion Jawhar", a timepiece inspired by Middle Eastern aesthetics and tailored to the preferences of collectors in the region. This launch builds directly on the earlier release, extending the Dominion family with a model developed specifically for this market.
The watch comes in a Grade 5 titanium case with a polished and brushed finishing scheme, complemented by matching finishing on the lug inserts. It measures 42 mm in diameter (excluding the crowns) and 15.20 mm in thickness, and incorporates Cyrus’s dual-crown architecture, the crown at 3 o’clock winds the movement in position one and adjusts local time and home time simultaneously in position two, while the crown at 9 o’clock advances the local-time hour hand in one-hour increments without affecting home time. Both crowns are decorated with slanted grooves and the engraved Cyrus emblem. The watch is fitted with a double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal on the dial side and a sapphire caseback secured with customised screws, and is water-resistant to 100 metres.
It features a multi-layered, three-dimensional open worked dial built on a mainplate with a 5N red gold galvanic treatment. A transparent sapphire crystal disc carries luminescent indices in Indian script, while a white lacquered 24-hour GMT ring with grey outlines and black Arabic numerals frames the second-time-zone display. The upper bridges, shaped like a stylised palm tree, is openworked and finished with a combination of satin-brushed and sandblasted surfaces with polished edges, adding structural depth to the dial. At 6 o’clock, a small seconds subdial incorporates a white seconds track with black indices and a central grey area decorated with raised triangular motifs, accompanied by a black helix-shaped seconds hand with a luminescent tip that echoes the Cyrus logo. Rhodium-plated openworked hour and minute hands filled with white SuperLumiNova with blue emission ensure legibility, while the black retrograde hand with a white luminous triangular tip provides the second-time-zone indication.
The watch is powered by the in house self-winding CYR708 calibre, developed by Jean-François Mojon. Through the sapphire crystal caseback, the decorated movement is visible, with polished anglage highlighting each edge. The calibre comprises 278 parts, and runs at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz) with a minimum power reserve of 55 hours. Its mainplate is treated with 5N red gold galvanic plating, and the single barrel is fitted with a ratchet wheel decorated with colimaçonage and engraved with the Cyrus logo in black lacquer. The openworked, 5N red gold-plated monobloc oscillating weight, bearing a rhodium-plated Cyrus helix medallion, is engraved with the motto “The Conquest of Innovation,” complemented by polished, bevelled screws.
It comes with a black alligator leather strap and a titanium pin buckle. This watch is a limited edition of 28 pieces and is priced at CHF 24,800, which is equivalent to AED 114,000 approximately.
