Introducing Credor Unveils the Limited Edition Goldfeather Tourbillon

For its latest release, Credor turns to the Goldfeather collection as the foundation. However, instead of the classic three-hand watch that defines the rest of the line, the new model introduces a brand-new tourbillon caliber, paired with traditional Japanese métier d’art techniques such as maki-e and raden urushi. This intricate craftsmanship creates a feather motif by combining urushi lacquer with mother-of-pearl and gold of varying thickness (raden), along with delicate gold flecks on lacquer (maki-e). Both techniques are applied to the dial to depict a vibrant scene of birds in mid-flight.

The 38.6 mm case retains the signature curved form of the Goldfeather series while housing the new tourbillon movement. Thanks to a newly developed construction, the watch maintains an impressively slim profile of just 8.6 mm. 

The mid-case, lugs, and non-sapphire portion of the caseback are crafted as a single piece, resulting in a seamless, streamlined silhouette. The case is made of Platinum 950 a material notoriously difficult to polish. Yet, in true Credor fashion, it is meticulously hand-polished by expert artisans to achieve flawless surfaces, superior comfort, and uncompromising refinement.

The dial artfully captures the image of birds soaring upward, their trajectory rising from the tourbillon carriage at 9 o’clock toward the Credor logo at 12. This poetic ascent is brought to life through raden, where multicolored mother-of-pearl is delicately inlaid onto the lacquered dial, shimmering against the dark urushi background, and kirikane, an ornamental technique that involves applying finely cut gold lines or shapes.

Surrounding the tourbillon carriage are shimmering flecks of gold applied using maki-e, symbolizing the radiant energy of the sun. The tourbillon bridge is elegantly shaped like a bird in flight, its wings and even the hands crafted from gold.

Powering the watch is the hand-wound Caliber 6850, a successor to 2016’s Caliber 6830. While retaining the same compact dimensions (25.6 mm in diameter and 3.98 mm thick), the new movement features a larger mainspring barrel, extending the power reserve to 60 hours. It beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz).

The sapphire caseback reveals a spectacular view of the movement, inspired by the primary feathers that lift a bird into flight. This dynamic motif is realized through a blend of bold and intricate engraving, raden, and maki-e, radiating outward from the tourbillon carriage to echo the story told on the dial. The engraved grooves, applied by hand using specialized tools, vary in depth and shape to give each feather a sense of volume, within a space of just 0.15 mm. Tempered blue screws and the greenish-blue sheen of the outer feather, made using yakougai (the iridescent shell of the green turban snail), enhance the composition’s harmony and dramatic impact.

The Goldfeather Tourbillon Limited Edition GBCF999 is fitted with a black crocodile leather strap, secured with a platinum triple-folding clasp. This exceptional piece is limited to just 10 examples, each priced at €190,000 (approximately AED 819,700).
