The “Dial Artist” Edition, Created in Collaboration with British Artist Chris Alexander
Independent Swiss watch brand CODE41 has unveiled its first artistic collaboration, partnering with acclaimed British artist Chris Alexander, widely known as The Dial Artist.
Based in Scotland, Chris Alexander is a contemporary artist celebrated for his vibrant, hand-painted watch dials. Having collaborated with both major watch brands and private collectors worldwide, he transforms the dial into a miniature canvas, blurring the boundaries between horology and contemporary art.
For this collaboration, Alexander brings his distinctive artistic language to CODE41’s emblematic DAY41 model. Each dial is entirely hand-painted and unique, ensuring that no two watches are alike—each piece becomes a singular, unrepeatable creation.
The collaboration builds upon the DAY41’s signature design, selected for its open architecture and mechanical purity. As CODE41 describes it: Alexander contributes the colour, emotion, and expression, while the brand provides the structure, assembly, and radical transparency that define its identity. The DAY41 captivates with its raw, machined aesthetic, combining a strong technical presence with refined elegance. Crafted from high-quality 316L stainless steel with a black PVD coating, the case measures 40 mm in diameter and 10.5 mm in thickness, distinguished by its sculpted lugs and box-style construction.
The open-worked dial reveals the movement beneath, inviting the wearer to explore the mechanics from a new perspective. Both the bridges and the inner flange are hand-painted with the artist’s distinctive touch, while white Super-LumiNova-coated hands and indices ensure clear and effortless legibility.
Powering the watch is the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 S a automatic movement, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). It delivers a power reserve of approximately 41 hours and a precision rating of –7/+7 seconds per day. The movement is equipped with a stop-seconds function for precise time setting, Incabloc shock protection, and an automatic bidirectional winding system, ensuring reliable performance in daily wear.
The watch is offered with a versatile selection of strap options, including a black PVD-coated bracelet with a deployment buckle, a rubber strap with a black PVD two-blade deployment clasp, and two calf leather alternatives—one perforated and one smooth—both fitted with black PVD two-blade deployment clasps. A 21 mm lug width and a tool-free strap-change system allow for quick and effortless customization.
The CODE41 × The Dial Artist collaboration is now available for pre-order via the CODE41 website. Limited to just 88 pieces, the watch is priced at USD 3,100, approximately AED 11,385.
