Introducing Clé and Raketa Unveil the Space Launcher “First in Space” Edition

The renowned Russian watchmaker Raketa, in a special collaboration with its Saudi Arabian representative Clé and the Saudi fashion house 1886, unveils a special limited edition of the “Space Launcher” watch, named “First in Space.” This release celebrates the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s legacy in space exploration. The unique edition combines meticulous watchmaking craftsmanship with contemporary design inspired by Saudi culture.

Saudi Arabia’s venture into space began in 1985 when HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman Al Saud became the first Arab, Muslim, and royal to travel to space. His historic mission inspired generations of Saudis to reach for the stars. In 2023, the Saudi Space Commission propelled this legacy forward with new missions that positioned the Kingdom as an emerging global force in space exploration.

First in Space commemorates these milestones by merging heritage with innovation. The collection stands as a symbol of national pride and a testament to Saudi Arabia’s ambitious vision for the future.

The barrel-shaped stainless steel case measures 43mm in diameter, 13.15mm in thickness, and 47mm from lug to lug. The bidirectional rotating bezel features Eastern Arabic numerals in black. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, while the case back is fitted with mineral glass. Water resistance is rated at 20 meters.

The green dial, crafted from Aventurine stone, pays homage to the Saudi flag. At its center, a rotating disc displays a detailed map of Saudi Arabia. Surrounding the dial is a 24-hour scale in red and white, while the applied Eastern Arabic numerals and hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility.

Powering the Raketa Space Launcher is the automatic calibre 2624A a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Raketa in Saint Petersburg. As one of the few fully integrated watchmakers, Raketa designs, produces, assembles nearly every component in-house. 

The movement beats at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz) and offers a 40-hour power reserve. It is adjusted to a daily rate of -10/+20 seconds. The movement features brushed finishing on the plates and Raketa’s signature Neva stripes on the red rotor, which bears the logos of both Raketa and 1886 printed in white.

The watch is paired with a white fabric strap and comes with an additional green leather strap. It is limited to just 60 pieces, each priced at 13,750 SAR. The First in Space edition is available exclusively through CLÉ and 1886 official stores.

Accompanying the timepiece is an exclusive pair of space gloves designed by 1886, crafted using materials inspired by authentic space suits. The capsule collection also includes futuristic garments that echo the spirit of exploration and celebrate Saudi cultural heritage. Only 60 box sets have been produced, marking the final release of the Raketa Space Launcher. Each set is individually numbered, offering collectors a rare opportunity to own a piece of horological and cultural history.
