A Striking Black Fumé Dial with Golden Accents Elevates the New Edition
The Tsuyosa collection reimagines the spirit of the NH299 series, one of Citizen’s best-selling mechanical lines from the late 1990s and early 2000s. The NH299 marked a milestone in the brand’s history, representing a shift toward the use of stainless steel at a time when many affordably priced watches were still made of brass. This transition brought enhanced durability and a refined finish, setting the collection apart in both practicality and aesthetics.
First launched with great success in 2023, the Tsuyosa made headlines again earlier this year with the release of a more compact 37mm version in three vibrant colors. Now, this smaller case welcomes a new and exclusive addition: a limited-edition black dial model.
The watch features a 37mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 11.5mm, boasting a mix of brushed and polished finishes for a contemporary, refined look. The crown is discreetly positioned at 4 o’clock, preserving the case’s smooth profile. A flat sapphire crystal with a date magnifier covers the dial, while the watch offers water resistance to 50 meters. A see-through caseback reveals the automatic movement inside.
The black dial is striking, showcasing a gradient fumé effect with a fine, grainy texture that creates subtle color transitions and a smoky visual depth. For this limited edition, the dial is enhanced with gold-colored accents on the central hands, hour markers, and minute scale. A white date window at 3 o’clock offers a sharp contrast, echoing the white Super-LumiNova® used on the indices.
As with previous Tsuyosa models, this edition is powered by Citizen’s in-house Calibre 8210 an automatic movement beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz), offering a power reserve of approximately 40 hours.
The watch is fitted with a multi-link stainless steel bracelet, reminiscent of vintage designs, complete with a folding clasp and push-button release, consistent with the 40mm version. This 37mm black dial edition is limited to 8,000 pieces, priced at GBP 299 approximately AED 1,475.
