Introducing Chronoswiss Revives the Quarter Repeater Mechanism

In 2003, Gerd-Rüdiger Lang unveiled the Chronoswiss Répétition à Quarts, the world’s first wristwatch with quarter-hour repetition. With a simple push of the pusher at the 10 o’clock position, this collectible timepiece chimes every 15 minutes, marking a milestone in horological innovation. At its debut, it stood as the only wristwatch with quarter-hour repetition functionality.

Today, Chronoswiss continues this legacy with the Q-Repeater Scream and Q-Repeater Blue Note, two extraordinary Quarter Repeater timepieces that blend the auditory beauty of timekeeping with cutting-edge mechanical design. These watches showcase a bold reinvention of sound and aesthetics.

Reflecting Chronoswiss's commitment to independent watchmaking. The brand has not only developed a high-end chiming component for superior sound quality but has also fully skeletonized the watches, allowing a captivating view of their intricate mechanisms.

Housed in a Grade 5 titanium case, these 42mm timepieces stand out with a substantial height of 16.2 mm. The iconic Chronoswiss case design features a polished bezel with a fluted decorative ring, a double anti-reflective boxed sapphire crystal, a screwed case back with sapphire crystal, and the signature onion crown. At 10 o’clock, a pusher activates the mesmerizing quarter repeater function, where hammers strike to audibly indicate the hours and quarter-hours, transforming time into a sensory experience.

Available in two striking editions, the bold, multicolored Scream and the elegant Blue Note — these skeletonized masterpieces reveal the intricate mechanisms behind their chiming complication. The hours subdial sits at 12 o’clock, the minutes at the center, and the seconds at 6 o’clock, with rhodium-plated hands adding a refined touch.

The movement and its holder are integrated into the dial, with a skeletonized movement holder featuring ceramic Super-LumiNova blocks in multicolor emission for the Scream edition. The hour ring also uses rectangular ceramic Super-LumiNova blocks, while the skeletonized dial and bridges are CVD-coated. Visible quarter repeater hammers, gears, and the bridge hour ring with galvanic treatment further highlight the intricate craftsmanship.

At the heart of these timepieces lies the Chronoswiss Legacy Caliber C.126, a movement rooted in the vision of founder Gerd-Rüdiger Lang. Originally introduced in the 1990s and exclusively produced for Chronoswiss, this legacy caliber has been meticulously restored and refined in the Atelier Lucerne. 

This revival bridges the brand's rich heritage with modern horology. The automatic movement features a sophisticated repeater mechanism with two gongs and an "all or nothing" safety system for flawless performance. With a diameter of 28 mm and 42 jewels, it operates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and offers a 35-hour power reserve. The aesthetic detailing is exceptional, with a skeletonized rotor and hand-guilloché bridges with CVD coating, showcasing artisanal mastery.

Complementing these exceptional timepieces, the Scream edition features a grey Nubuck leather strap with orange and purple Alcantara lining, while the Blue Note edition is paired with a blue calfskin strap with light grey Alcantara lining. Both editions are limited to just 25 pieces.
