Introducing Christopher Ward Unveils the New C12 Loco Watch in Four Colors

An Open-Worked Dial Combined with an Impressive Power Reserve

Christopher Ward stands at the forefront of modern British watchmaking. Since its founding in 2004, the brand has redefined the luxury watch industry by becoming the world’s first online-only premium watchmaker offering Swiss-made, hand-assembled mechanical timepieces at accessible prices. Over the past two decades, Christopher Ward has built a reputation for craftsmanship, innovation, and transparency, culminating in milestones such as the creation of Calibre CW-001 the first commercially viable mechanical movement from a British brand in over half a century. Today, Christopher Ward unveils its latest release, the "C12 Loco", a bold new timepiece available in four distinct colourways.

The case is crafted from high-grade stainless steel, the 41mm case is defined by its angular geometry and strong character lines, with a dynamic mix of vertically brushed and polished finishes that shift and catch light in a sculptural display. At the forefront of its design is the distinctive fixed bezel, which sets the tone for the watch’s aesthetic. The bezel is precision-machined with crisp facets that mirror the sharp chamfers of the case. Its polished upper surface contrasts against the brushed steel of the case body, framing the dial with clean minimalism while enhancing the visual depth of the watch as a whole.

Measuring 13.7mm in height and 47.5mm lug-to-lug, the case wears with a confident presence yet remains proportioned for everyday comfort. The crown, etched with the brand's logo, is neatly tucked into the case flank, reinforcing the clean, angular lines, and offering 30m water resistance is rated.Protecting the dial and caseback is a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, ensuring both clarity and durability.

The dial is available in four striking colourways black, white, blue, and orange and plays with light and texture in unique ways. The watch features an openworked dial that balances clean architectural lines with refined horological details. Positioned at 12 o’clock, the raised hour track forms a distinct sub-dial, floating above a finely brushed base that echoes the industrial design language of the case. Its applied indices are faceted and highly polished, catching the light with every wrist movement to ensure excellent legibility from all angles.

Adding to the intrigue is the exposed flying balance wheel at 6 o’clock, suspended within a skeletal bridge that highlights the watch’s mechanical soul. The absence of a traditional dial layout allows the movement to take center stage, offering a compelling sense of depth and dynamism.

The watch is powered by Christopher Ward’s second in-house movement, the CW-003 — a manually wound calibre that delivers an impressive 144-hour (six-day) power reserve. Entirely re-engineered from the brand’s original SH21 architecture, CW-003 showcases exceptional technical refinement and visual symmetry. It features twin barrels for optimal energy flow and a custom-designed free-sprung balance wheel, adjusted via micro-screws for enhanced precision and long-term stability. With a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), and an accuracy of -0/+7 seconds per day, this calibre represents the pinnacle of Christopher Ward’s horological innovation. Meticulously hand-finished bridges and an open dial design reveal the movement’s intricate mechanics, creating a perfect harmony between engineering and aesthetics.

The watch is available with a stainless steel bracelet featuring a micro-adjustment system for USD 4,825 approximately AED 17,850, or with a rubber strap in a dial-matching color and a folding clasp for USD 4,595 approximately AED 17,000.
