A limited-edition release featuring a stunning midnight blue dial
Christopher Ward has built its reputation on making Swiss-made luxury watches accessible to everyone, without compromising on craftsmanship or style. The British brand has a knack for combining traditional watchmaking with modern techniques, delivering standout designs packed with sought-after complications like chiming watches and elegant moonphases, all at accessible prices.
In its latest release, the brand unveiled the C1 Moonglow, a limited-edition timepiece with a midnight blue dial and oversized, textured 3D moons. The watch is housed in a 40.5mm Light-catcher case crafted from 316L stainless steel, which is a development of Christopher Ward. This distinctive case design features extra facets, with no two surfaces sharing the same finish, adding a dynamic interplay of textures. The dial is protected by a glass box sapphire crystal.
The dial features two moons positioned opposite each other, each coated with Grade X1 WL C1 Super-LumiNova to create a striking "moonglow" effect. The moon phase is displayed through a window at 12 o’clock, while the second moon stays hidden beneath the dial. Instead of the usual date window, the watch includes a rotating ring coated with the same Super-LumiNova. This ring aligns with a glowing outer-date ring, allowing you to read the date effortlessly, even in total darkness.
Powered by Christopher Ward’s in-house modular movement, the JJ04, which is built on the Sellita SW220 base. The original date wheel and its spring-loading assembly have been removed and replaced with four additional wheels to drive the moon disc, along with two more wheels for the setting mechanism. The movement delivers a power reserve of 38 hours and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
The watch comes with a beige leather strap and is limited to just 80 pieces, all of which have sold out. It is priced at $2,325, equivalent to AED 8,600.
