Smaller Dive Watches Showcase the New Generation of the 'DS' Shock Resistance System
Certina expands its dive watch portfolio with the introduction of a new 40.5mm model, rounding out the DS Action Diver collection. This latest release upholds the brand’s reputation for robust and affordable prices, performance-oriented timepieces, offering 300 meters of water resistance and full compliance with ISO 6425:2018 standards for professional dive watches.
Significantly, the DS Action Diver 40.5 mm debuts a major technical advancement: it is the first Certina timepiece to feature the brand’s next-generation "DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance" Originally introduced in 1959 to enhance durability, the upgraded Double Security (DS) system now enables the watch to endure exceptionally high g-forces up to 10,000G, pushing testing equipment to its operational limits.
The new model is offered in four variations, with a choice of stainless steel or titanium cases and three dial colors, all paired with ceramic bezels matching the dial hues.
The 40.5mm case, with a thickness of 14.10mm, features a unidirectional 120-click ceramic diving bezel. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the solid screw-down caseback is engraved with Certina’s signature turtle emblem—a nod to the brand’s commitment to rugged reliability. The screw-down crown ensures the full 300-meter water resistance.

Dial options include black, white, and a vivid blue, the latter being exclusive to the full titanium version.
The black dial features gilt-framed indices and hands, while the white and blue versions are matched with stainless steel-finished markers and hands. A date aperture at 3 o’clock appears in a white frame with black numerals, consistent across all versions. Each dial is equipped with hands coated in white Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility.
Notably, the hour hand sports a bold arrow tip, complemented by a sword-shaped minute hand and a lollipop-style seconds hand, each thoughtfully differentiated for underwater readability.
At the heart of the watch is the ETA Powermatic 80.611 automatic movement, offering an impressive 80-hour power reserve and operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour. Enhanced with a Nivachron hairspring, the movement also provides resistance to magnetic fields, further cementing the model’s tool-watch credentials.
The black dial version is available either on a NATO-style fabric strap black with a beige center stripe, or a stainless steel three-link bracelet with a folding clasp. The white dial is offered exclusively on a steel bracelet, while the blue titanium model comes with a matching titanium bracelet. All bracelets feature quick-release push-pins and a clasp with built-in micro-adjustment for added comfort and versatility.
The prices are as follows CHF 785, which is equivalent to AED 3,300, for the black dial with a steel case and NATO-style strap; CHF 835, equivalent to AED 3,510, for the black or white dial with a steel case and bracelet; and CHF 895, which is equivalent to AED 3,765, for the blue dial with a titanium case and bracelet.
