Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch

A limited edition with a blue dial and an elegant platinum case
Cartier is renowned for its unconventional watch designs, most notably the Santos Dumont and the 1917 Tank. Over the decades, the Tank has evolved through numerous iterations like the Tank Louis Cartier. Among them is the Tank Américaine, introduced in 1989, which stands out with its elegant curves and elongated form, a nod to the earlier Tank Cintrée of 1921.
This year, the Tank Américaine returns in an exclusive European edition that brings the vibrant spirit of Art Deco to life through a captivating blue dial and platinum case. The case measures 44.4mm in length, 24.4mm in width, and 8.6mm in thickness. In line with Cartier’s design ethos, it features polished brancards and brushed flanks. The signature octagonal crown is set not with the usual sapphire or spinel, but with a faceted ruby.
The sealed caseback is engraved with “Limited Edition 120 Pieces,” underscoring its exclusivity, and water resistance is rated at 30 meters. The dial is where this edition truly shines. Executed using the camaïeu technique, an artistic method involving variations of a single color to create a monochromatic image, Cartier layers different shades of blue in a geometric composition that captures the essence of Art Deco minimalism. The dial forgoes a traditional minute track, instead showcasing only the elongated XII and VI Roman numerals alongside rhodium-finished, sword-shaped hands.

Inside ticks the automatic calibre 1899 MC, a manufacture movement developed specifically for the updated dimensions of the Tank Américaine LM. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and delivers a 40-hour power reserve. The watch is paired with a semi-matte blue alligator leather strap, secured by a white gold folding clasp. Strictly limited to 120 pieces, this edition is available exclusively in Europe at a price of EUR 26,400 (approximately AED 114,100).
