The Collection Inspired by British Military Watches During WWII
The British company Bremont presents a new version of the Broadsword Recon Bronze, an evolution of the original limited edition Broadsword Recon released in 2023. This exclusive timepiece is limited to 100 pieces and builds on the foundations of the company’s long-standing partnership with the UK Ministry of Defense. Bremont considers the modern design of field watches and rugged military watches to be strong, durable, and easy to read in outdoor or harsh environments. These watches are called “Dirty Dozen” watches, originally manufactured for the British Army during World War II by several British and Swiss companies. They share features such as a black dial, luminous Arabic numerals, a sub-dial for the running seconds, and notable durability. Bremont takes inspiration from these historical watches for its Broadsword Recon collection. Recently, Bremont launched its first tourbillon watch. You can read more about it in the article here.

This new iteration features a stunning CuSn8 bronze case construction, which will develop a unique patina over time, creating a one-of-a-kind appearance. The robust two-piece 40mm case comes with a domed sapphire crystal and offers a 100-meter water resistance.

The stainless steel case back, stamped with the badges of all three services, states 'Approved by Her Majesty's Armed Forces.' However, it was designed and approved by His Majesty's Armed Forces before the new crests have been decreed. Once the crests of His Majesty's Armed Forces are decreed, all case backs within Bremont's Armed Forces Collection will be updated accordingly.

The timepiece features a sandwich dial construction with vintage Super-LumiNova®, designed for maximum visibility. The Broadsword Recon Bronze sandwich dial allows for a flat yet three-dimensional design. It features a luminous bottom layer and a top layer with cutouts exposing the luminescence beneath. This unique design ensures unparalleled readability, making the luminous numerals and indices stand out brilliantly.

The date window is positioned at 3 o'clock, while a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock harks back to the original Dirty Dozen pieces and features four lumed openings.

Powering the watch is the Bremont caliber BE-95-2AV, a chronometer-rated to ISO 3159 standard. It features a Glucydur balance wheel, Anachron balance spring, and Nivaflex mainspring, offering a 38-hour power reserve. The automatic movement beats at 28,800 vph (4Hz).

The Broadsword Recon Bronze is a limited edition of 100 pieces, priced at £3,450, which is equivalent to AED 16,300.
