A Limited Edition Celebrating the Chinese Lunar Year of the Horse
Breitling presents the Top Time B01 Racing Shadow Rider to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, corresponding to the Year of the Fire Horse, as part of a global limited edition of 288 pieces. Inspired by the horse, this timepiece combines modern watchmaking expertise with the classic design language of the 1960s, reflecting Breitling’s rich heritage in sports watchmaking while honoring Chinese traditions.
The new Top Time B01 Racing Shadow Rider exemplifies design and craftsmanship in every detail. Its 38 mm stainless steel cushion-shaped case revives vintage contours, measuring 13.07 mm in height with a 44.4 mm lug-to-lug distance. The caseback is engraved with “ONE OF 288” and features the silhouette of the shadow rider’s head, emphasizing its collectability as a dedicated Year of the Horse edition.
The dial, presented in classic black and white, celebrates Chinese zodiac culture while reflecting Breitling's enduring pursuit of precision. At its center is the signature elliptical “dashboard” motif, inspired by historical archives. The small seconds subdial displays the shadow rider’s head silhouette, while the tachymeter scale bears the inscription “YEAR OF THE HORSE” between 12 and 2 o’clock.
The 30-minute chronograph hand and central seconds hand are rendered in red for a sporty accent, a color traditionally associated with Chinese New Year celebrations.
Powering the watch is Breitling’s in-house Calibre B01, a COSC-certified automatic chronometer introduced in 2009 and incorporated into the Top Time collection in 2023. This column-wheel chronograph operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offers a robust 70-hour power reserve.
The special edition is paired with a beige perforated leather racing calfskin strap and a stainless steel folding clasp. Limited to 288 pieces, the Breitling Top Time B01 Racing Shadow Rider is priced at USD 7,750, approximately 28,500 AED.
