Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch

The iconic dive watch receives distinctive blue accents and a black ceramic bezel
The Superocean Heritage is one of Breitling’s most iconic diving watches. When it was first launched in 1957, it took a markedly different approach from other dive watches of the era, prioritising elegance alongside functionality. Today, that philosophy remains at the core of the Superocean Heritage: it retains the soul of the 1950s, reinterpreted for contemporary wear. Now, the collection receives a special edition created exclusively for retailer Bucherer, preserving the original design language while introducing a new dial and bezel colour combination. The blue dial, a hue long associated with Bucherer’s special editions, reinforces this exclusive identity.
The 42 mm stainless-steel case strikes a well-judged balance between robustness and elegance, measuring 12.03 mm in thickness for a comfortably wearable profile. It is topped by a unidirectional black ceramic rotating bezel, offering both visual contrast and enhanced scratch resistance. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a sapphire crystal case back reveals the movement within. Practicality is ensured by a screw-down crown and a water-resistance rating of 200 metres, underscoring the watch’s tool-oriented credentials. Exclusive to this version, the stainless-steel case is further distinguished by a discreet engraving denoting the Bucherer Edition.
The latest Superocean Heritage builds on everything that made the original distinctive, while subtly sharpening its aesthetic. It features a dark blue dial that transitions towards black at the periphery in a refined fumé effect. The hour indices are applied, while the minute track is printed in white for clarity. The minute hand adopts a tall, spear-shaped design, contrasted by the arrow-shaped hour hand, with all hands and indices coated in white Super-LumiNova to ensure excellent legibility in low-light conditions.

A discreet date window at six o’clock maintains symmetry on the dial, while the signature hands—arrow for the hours and spear for the minutes—reinforce the collection’s instantly recognisable identity, ensuring clarity both above and below the surface.
The collection introduces the B31 automatic movement, Breitling’s first exclusive three-hand manufacture caliber. was developed over four years to ensure enhanced reliability, measuring 28mm x 4.8mm. It builds on the engineering excellence of Breitling’s B01 caliber, which debuted in 2009 as a chronograph movement.

The B31 features a free-sprung balance wheel for improved precision, along with a bidirectional skeletonized oscillating weight that powers the automatic movement. These components are visible through the transparent case back.
As with all Breitling movements, the B31 is COSC-certified as a chronometer. The caliber also undergoes rigorous testing equivalent to 16 years of use, including 100,000 crown rotations, 3,456,000 oscillations of the rotor, and 60,000 shocks of up to 500G, along with other extreme conditions to ensure its durability. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offers a power reserve of up to 78 hours.

This Bucherer Edition is paired with an integrated black mesh-rubber strap, secured by a folding clasp. The Breitling Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic 42 Bucherer Edition is priced at CHF 5,800, equivalent to approximately AED 27,000.
