Introducing Breguet Releases the Type XX Chronograph 2067 gold

Breguet has long been intertwined with the world of aviation, known for its pioneering contributions to aeronautical timekeeping. In 1949, the brand introduced chronographs with the "flyback" function, allowing for instant reset and restart, a feature highly appreciated by pilots. In 1952, Breguet submitted models for the French Air Force, which were officially approved as Type 20 in 1953. This success led to major orders, including 1,100 units in 1954 for the Air Force and 500 for Naval Aviation in 1958. Civilian Type XX models also emerged in 1953, featuring innovations such as the Type XXII's 10-hertz frequency. 

Today, the fourth generation of Type XX watches carries on this iconic legacy, combining Breguet’s horological expertise with bold, modern design. Following the launch of the new-generation Type XX in June 2023, Breguet is now expanding the civilian collection with a striking rose gold and ceramic variant, the Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2067 gold.

Similar to the versions introduced in June 2023, this new timepiece is inspired by the original models from the collection's early days. Gold was notably used in a few rare pieces from 1955, now housed in the Breguet Museum.

The watch features a 42mm rose gold case with a thickness of 14.1mm, topped with sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, along with a sapphire caseback. A key highlight is the fluted, bidirectional rotating bezel in rose gold, now paired with a blue ceramic ring that contrasts beautifully with the gold case and numerals, while blending seamlessly with the dial. The crown offers three settings: neutral/winding, date adjustment, and time setting. The chronograph is controlled via the 2 o'clock pusher for starting and stopping, while the 4 o'clock pusher resets and immediately restarts the chronograph with the signature "flyback" function.

The dial’s sunburst blue tone evokes the shifting hues of the sky after sunset. Adding depth, the three subdials are adorned with a snailed pattern. The gold Arabic numerals are filled with luminescent material for enhanced legibility. The 15-minute counter is positioned at 3 o'clock, the 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, and the small seconds at 9 o'clock. Additionally, the date window is discreetly placed between 4 and 5 o’clock.

At the heart of the watch beats the Calibre 728, an in-house automatic movement featuring an integrated flyback chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Equipped with a silicon balance spring, it operates at a high frequency of 36,000 vph (5Hz) and provides a 60-hour power reserve. The watch comes with two interchangeable straps, one in blue alligator leather and the other in NATO fabric, each fitted with an 18K gold pin buckle. The price of the watch is AED 146,400.
