A Classical Design Housing a High-Frequency 10 Hz Chronometry Movement
As part of its 250th-anniversary celebrations, Manufacture Breguet continues to honor its heritage of innovation by unveiling the Classique 7225, a timepiece equipped with a magnetic-pivot balance and a high-frequency escapement operating at 10 Hz. This groundbreaking technology, first introduced in 2013, earned Breguet the highest distinction at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) — the 2014 “Aiguille d’Or.” Now available in white or rose gold, the model has become an icon within the Classique collection.
The base architecture and technology of the new Classique 7225 are carried over from the Classique Chronométrie 7727, with the same goal of maintaining a stable pivot through the magnetic field generated between two opposing magnets. This ingenious system frees the balance pivot from the effects of gravity, minimizes friction, and enhances stability against shocks, a remarkable advancement in precision timekeeping.

In keeping with Breguet’s anniversary tradition, the Classique 7225 features a case crafted from 18K Breguet gold, introducing a new aesthetic language for the collection. The fluted caseband and soldered lugs give way to a more streamlined design, characterized by integrated lugs and a curved profile for a modern yet timeless silhouette. Measuring 41 mm in diameter and 10.7 mm thick, the case showcases a refined hand-guilloché “Quai de l’Horloge” caseband, topped with a spherical sapphire crystal glare-proofed on both sides. The sapphire crystal caseback, engraved with “BREGUET 250 YEARS,” is also treated with anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint coatings and can be customized upon request. The watch offers a water resistance of 30 metres.
Drawing inspiration from the No. 1176 pocket watch produced between 1802 and 1809, the dial is a masterpiece in itself. Crafted from 18K Breguet gold, it features an intricate hand-guilloché “Quai de l’Horloge” motif that celebrates the brand’s timeless artistry.
Roman numerals adorn the chapter ring, while the layout includes a small seconds subdial at 2 o’clock, an observation seconds display at 10 o’clock, which can be reset to zero via the pusher on the left flank; and a power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock, each enhanced by a flinqué guilloché finish. The Breguet blue gold hollow-tipped hands indicate the hours and minutes, complemented by blued hands for the seconds and power reserve, creating a harmonious and sophisticated dial composition.
Despite its classical design, the movement within the Classique 7225 is a true game-changer. The manual-winding Caliber 74SC is exquisitely hand-decorated, featuring an engraving depicting the streets surrounding Breguet’s original Parisian workshops. Mechanically, it is nothing short of exceptional: operating at 10 Hz (72,000 vibrations per hour), it delivers a precision of ±1 second per day. The magnetic pivot system places small magnets at the ends of the balance staff, allowing only its very tip to contact the jewel, reducing friction and enabling higher-frequency operation. The movement also features silicon components for the balance spring, pallet lever, and escape wheel, and measures a mere 5.5 mm thick.
The 250th anniversary of Manufacture Breguet is a fitting occasion to reaffirm the brand’s excellence in decoration, technology, and ethics, values now embodied in a new Breguet hallmark applied to its timepieces. This certification rests on three pillars: component quality, performance, and ethical standards. The hallmark appears on both the watch head and buckle, symbolizing Breguet’s commitment to enduring excellence.
The Breguet Classique 7225 is presented on a navy blue alligator leather strap with an 18K Breguet gold pin buckle. Released as part of the anniversary collection but not a limited edition; the watch is priced at CHF 75,000, approximately AED 345,150.
