The first watch that solves the complexities of Daylight Saving Time (DST)
Bovet produces high-end timepieces with exquisite craftsmanship and artistic design. The company was founded in 1822 by Édouard Bovet in London and later moved its operations to Switzerland. Since then, Bovet has been renowned for its innovative and intricate watchmaking techniques. One of the distinctive features of Bovet watches is their skeletonized watches and the use of exceptional design.
Pascal Raffy, a watch collector, acquired Bovet in 2001 and embarked on a journey to restore the brand to its esteemed status. Among the array of accomplishments, one notable achievement is the brand’s world timer watches, a distinguished category within the brand's offerings. Mr. Raffy aptly described these timepieces as "uniting the heavens and the Earth." They are crafted not only to indicate time but also to monitor the time in different cities around the world in a visually captivating display. This year, Bovet introduces the Récital 28 Prowess 1, a new world timer that is the first of its kind with Daylight Saving Time (DST).
World time watches are designed to display the current time across multiple time zones simultaneously. These watches typically feature a rotating bezel or an additional subdial that allows the wearer to easily track the time in various cities around the world. Traditional world-time displays typically show fixed time differences between specific cities and time zones, but they struggle to handle the complexities of Daylight Saving Time (DST). Bovet has come up with a solution in their Récital 28 Prowess 1 watch. Instead of fixed displays, they've introduced rollers for each city and time zone. With a simple press of the crown, you can switch between UTC, AST (American Summer Time), EAS (Europe and America Summer Time), and EWT (European Winter Time). Additionally, the crown has three positions for winding, setting the world time, and setting the time for your current location, and an indicator at 3 o’clock shows which mode you're in.

The Récital 28 Prowess 1 is available in a grade 5 titanium, pink gold, or platinum case, boasting a new size of 46.3mm in diameter and 17.85mm in thickness, with a sapphire crystal on top and on the caseback. The dial showcases a double-sided flying tourbillon positioned at 12 o'clock (with seconds counter), a perpetual calendar with indicators at 2 o'clock for the month and 11 o'clock for the date, along with a small rectangular day window placed at 9 o'clock. A standout feature is the black subdial highlighting 24 main cities from around the world in black PVD coated roller. The inner and outer rings of the dial consist of aventurine glass, enhanced by luminescent material.

The watch is powered by the caliber R28-70-00X, a hand-wound movement measuring 38mm in diameter and 13.30mm in thickness. Operating at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz), it boasts an impressive 10-day power reserve. Through the caseback, you can admire the beautiful hand-finishing, with perlage and Côtes de Genève decorating the plate, and hand-engraving adorning the bridges as well. The watch has a limited production of 8 pieces per year and comes with an alligator leather strap, featuring a folding buckle matching the case's material.
