A Radiant Gold Dial Capturing the Essence of a French Riviera Summer
Baume & Mercier introduces a new addition to its Riviera collection, a model that perfectly captures the spirit of summer with a golden-toned, vintage-inspired aesthetic. Drawing influence from the radiant colors of the sun and the collection’s signature sport-chic style, the new Riviera is defined by its iconic twelve-sided bezel and a design that transitions effortlessly from casual outings to elegant evenings. Its gold-tone dial radiates vintage charm, evoking the festive allure of French Riviera summer nights and the refined luxury of its coastal villas.
Housed in satin-polished stainless steel, the case measures 39 mm in diameter and 10.2 mm in thickness, and is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The polished and sun-satin finishes of the bezel, secured by four screws, enhance the case’s luminous appeal. The dodecagonal caseback, engraved with “Special Edition” is topped with a sapphire crystal and secured with four screws, offering water resistance to approximately 100 meters.
For the first time, a Riviera Baumatic Special Edition features an opaque dial, diverging from the collection’s previous transparent sapphire dials. This new dial treatment enhances the golden hue, giving it added depth and elegance. The free octagonal crown is adorned with the Phi logo and accented with a blue line that echoes the blued steel seconds hand.
The dial features vertical satin brushing that adds texture and depth. Its warm golden tone is directly inspired by vintage timepieces. A snailed minute track encircles the dial, punctuated by riveted, tone-on-tone golden hour markers. Rhodium-plated openworked hands indicate the hours and minutes, while the blued steel seconds hand is balanced with a Phi logo counterweight. A wide date aperture at 3 o’clock completes the layout.
At the heart of the watch is the automatic Baumatic Manufacture Caliber BM13-1975. It boasts resistance to magnetic fields up to 1,500 Gauss, operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), and delivers an impressive 5-day (120-hour) power reserve.
The movement is finished to the highest standards: the bridges are circular-grained, the baseplate is sand-blasted and snailed, and the gold-tone openworked oscillating weight is adorned with Côtes de Genève and snailed patterns. It also features a dedicated Baume & Mercier engraving.
Completing the timepiece is an integrated three-row satin-polished stainless steel bracelet, designed as a seamless extension of the case. It includes a robust, tool-free interchangeability system and a stainless steel triple folding clasp with security push-pieces. The watch is priced at CHF 3,950, approximately AED 17,800.
