Introducing Batavi is Launching the New Marina Chronograaf

Batavi is a relatively young name in the market, but the Dutch microbrand has quickly established a strong identity. Its design language is bold, its colors vibrant, and its pricing accessible. In its latest release, the brand introduces the Marina Chronograaf, a collection inspired by summer themes.

The case is crafted from stainless steel and measures 38mm in diameter with a thickness of 13.5mm, including a domed sapphire crystal. On the right side, the chronograph pushers are positioned at 2 and 4 o’clock, flanking a signed push-pull crown at 3. Flip the watch over and you’ll find an exhibition caseback, framed in stainless steel, offering a clear view of the mechanical movement.

The Marina Chronograaf is offered in four colorways, each bringing a distinct character to the wrist. “Sunrise” features an eye-catching gradient of turquoise and pink with Eastern Arabic numerals. “Mist” has a clean snow-white base accented by cool blue tones. “Sand” delivers a subdued combination of beige, orange, and blue, while “Night” leans into a darker palette with a black dial lit up by purple, green, and pink accents.

Each dial is constructed using a sandwich-style layout, with a colored base layer beneath a transparent sapphire upper layer. Printed on the top layer are the indices, minute track, logo, and model name. The layout includes a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a small seconds sub-dial at 9. The syringe-shaped hour and minute hands are lume-filled, and the central chronograph seconds hand features an open-worked triangular tip.

Powering the watch is the Seagull ST1901, a hand-wound, column-wheel chronograph movement favored by many independent and microbrands. It beats at 21,600 vph (3 Hz), and delivers a power reserve of up to 50 hours depending on chronograph usage. The movement is decorated with Côtes de Genève, perlage, and heat-blued screws.

The watch is paired with a three-link stainless steel bracelet equipped with quick-release spring bars for easy strap changes. The folding clasp includes a tool-free micro-adjustment system for added convenience. Batavi also includes a bottle of fragrance, fittingly named Marina, with each purchase. The Marina Chronograaf joins the brand’s permanent collection and is available now at an introductory price of €649 (approximately AED 2,800), which will later increase to €699 (approximately AED 3,000).
