Introducing Arnold & Son Unveils the Chronopassion Double Tourbillon Landscape

In 2014, Arnold & Son launched the Double Tourbillon, one of its most intricate timepieces to date. This exceptional watch features two tourbillons, two barrels, and a dual-time display driven by two completely independent gear trains. Each time zone is displayed on its own sub-dial, allowing for the indication of identical times, different times, or even the tracking of a long event on one dial while the other shows local time. Unlike most travel watches, the Double Tourbillon accommodates time zones offset by 15, 30, or 45 minutes, offering true global versatility.

The Swiss brand has now partnered with the Parisian boutique Chronopassion to unveil a one-of-a-kind version of this masterpiece, featuring a rare natural stone dial with a stunning visual texture.

The watch is housed in a 43.5 mm case crafted from 18-carat white gold. Twin crowns positioned at 2 and 7 o’clock allow for manual winding and the independent setting of the two time zones. The case is topped with a domed sapphire crystal treated with double-sided anti-reflective coating, while a sapphire caseback offers a clear view of the movement. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters.

The dial crafted from landscape jasper, a variety of chalcedony selected by Chronopassion. Chalcedony is a microcrystalline form of quartz, prized for its striated, earthy tones. In this piece, the jasper displays a harmonious mix of beige, brown, and cream, reminiscent of desert landscapes.

Time is displayed on two symmetrically placed white opal sub-dials. The upper sub-dial at 12 o’clock features Roman numerals for local time, while the lower sub-dial at 6 o’clock uses Arabic numerals for the second time zone. The hands are blued, with tips coated in white Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility.

While the theme of duality is evident throughout the watch, it is especially highlighted at 3 and 9 o’clock, where two large apertures reveal the twin tourbillons. Each tourbillon is suspended beneath a skeletonised, three-dimensional bridge in polished and satin-brushed 18-carat white gold. These bridges are meticulously mirror-polished, satin-finished, and hand-bevelled. The tourbillon cages receive the same level of artisanal finishing.

The watch is powered by the calibre A&S8513, a manual-winding movement with two barrels and two independent gear trains. It delivers a generous 90-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour). The movement measures 37.30 mm in diameter and 8.35 mm in thickness. The NAC-treated main plate is finished with circular graining, while the NAC-treated bridges are polished, chamfered, and decorated with radiating Côtes de Genève.

The Double Tourbillon “Landscape” is fitted with a desert beige alligator leather strap, lined in blue and secured with a white gold folding clasp. This unique piece is available exclusively from Chronopassion in Paris, with pricing available upon request.
