Introducing Arnold & Son Expands the Globetrotter Collection With Two New Steel Editions

Arnold & Son revisits its Globetrotter collection to unveil a version that is at once more compact, slimmer, and easier to read. Featuring a new 42 mm diameter, the Globetrotter 42 Steel is presented in a stainless-steel case and offered in two distinct editions: ‘Strand Blue’ and ‘Greenwich Green’, each limited to 88 pieces.

The ‘Strand Blue’ edition pays tribute to the historic Strand street in London, which runs parallel to the River Thames and was once home to John Arnold’s workshop. Meanwhile, the colours of the ‘Greenwich Green’ model evoke the lush hills surrounding the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

Finely reworked for modern wearability, the Globetrotter 42 Steel boasts a well-balanced 42 mm stainless steel case with a refined thickness of 15 mm under its arched, domed sapphire crystal. Enhanced with a double-sided anti-reflective coating, the watch offers a water resistance of 30 metres.

The ultra-graphic dial has also been subtly redesigned to enhance both its visual appeal and functional clarity for international travellers. The Globetrotter retains its signature arched bridge, delicately curved and meticulously hand-finished in steel. 

This iconic element marks the passage of day and night on the 24-hour bezel ring and, with its ruby-set centre, secures the rotating dome that represents the Northern Hemisphere as seen from the North Pole. On this dome, sunray-brushed metallic continents stand in bold relief against the oceans, rendered in blue or green depending on the version.

A significant evolution in this latest model is the addition of a city ring around the dome, displaying twelve reference cities for intuitive reading of world time. Time is read against the 24-hour scale on the fixed ring, using the two distinctive arrows extending from beneath the globe to indicate local time.

Both versions of the Globetrotter 42 are powered by the automatic calibre A&S6122, which now offers an extended power reserve of 55 hours, up from the previous 45 hours. This movement allows both home and remote times to be easily adjusted via the crown’s three positions. As with all Arnold & Son movements, the A&S6122 calibre is entirely developed, produced, decorated, assembled, and adjusted at the brand’s Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement features a beautifully engraved and openworked rotor, adorned with the traditional Clous de Paris guilloché pattern. The main plate is circular-grained, the bridges are decorated with radiating Côtes de Genève, the wheels are satin-finished, and the screws are meticulously chamfered and polished. A palladium coating lends a subtle light-grey finish that harmonises perfectly with the case’s steel tones.

Designed for discerning travellers, the Globetrotter 42 is offered on hand-stitched alligator leather straps in either ‘ink’ blue or ‘Cornwall’ green, depending on the model, and secured by a stainless-steel pin buckle engraved with the brand’s emblem.

Each edition is limited to 88 pieces, priced at CHF 18,300, approximately AED 84,400.
