A Design That Elevates the Tribute Collection, Celebrating the Highest Levels of Craftsmanship
Armin Strom unveils the Tribute² Aurum, an exceptionally decorated timepiece that builds upon the foundations laid by the iconic Tribute 1, first introduced in 2021. At the time, the Tribute collection marked a more restrained and discreet chapter for the independent manufacture, retaining the brand’s core technical and design DNA while adopting a simpler aesthetic with largely closed dials.
In 2024, in collaboration with Horomariobro, Armin Strom chose to reveal what had previously been concealed beneath the dial, elevating decorative execution to new heights with the Tribute² Copper Edition. That concept now returns as part of the brand’s permanent collection in the form of the Armin Strom Tribute² Aurum Edition.
More openworked and skeletonised than its predecessor, the Tribute² Aurum enhances the architectural presence of the movement while revealing an even greater level of hand-finished detail that defines the collection. The watch is housed in a 38 mm stainless steel case measuring 9 mm in thickness, with the crown positioned at 2 o’clock. Sapphire crystals protect both the dial and the caseback, while the polished bezel and distinctive Armin Strom lugs ensure the watch retains the brand’s recognizable design language. Despite its more compact proportions compared to previous Armin Strom models, the case offers 50 metres of water resistance.
True to Armin Strom’s artisanal ethos, the Tribute² Aurum stands as a celebration of hand-finishing at its highest level. At its heart lies a gold-coated brass mainplate finished with tremblage, a rare engraving technique that creates an irregular, light-catching texture, adding depth, warmth, and visual dynamism to the movement.
Positioned at 10 o’clock, the off-centred dial features a grey fumé finish. It is framed by a hand-polished and hand-bevelled steel ring that further underscores the refined character of the design. Rose gold-coated hands and indices complete the display with a subtle touch of contrast. The front side showcases a skeletonised motor barrel with hand-polished bevelled spokes as well as a black-polished, bevelled steel finger bridge.
The AMW21 hand-wound movement, developed and manufactured in-house by Armin Strom, boasts an impressive 100-hour power reserve. Its exceptional performance is due to the innovative motor barrel design, a technique the company developed and explained in detail in a previous article. The movement operates at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour. It also features a balance wheel with variable inertia and a flat overcoil spring.
Viewed through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement reveals a three-quarter bridge adorned with Geneva stripes and circular graining, while the 60-degree hand-polished bevels elevate the finishing to a true expression of haute horlogerie craftsmanship. A three-dimensional escapement wheel bridge with a polished sink adds a final sculptural accent.
Limited to just 10 pieces, the Tribute² Aurum is delivered on a taupe Epsom leather strap with matching stitching, secured by a stainless steel pin buckle. The watch is priced at USD 27,000, equivalent to approximately AED 99,145.
