An open-worked dial reveals the high-power reserve movement
Armin Strom, renowned for its innovative approach to watchmaking, initially gained fame for its expertise in skeletonizing movements, an art form that earned the brand a Guinness World Record. However, the true transformation of Armin Strom occurred in 2006 when Serge Michel and Claude Greisler, childhood friends and passionate admirers of the brand, took ownership. Their shared love for watchmaking and unified vision for the brand's future led to the founding of the Armin Strom Manufacture in Biel, Switzerland, in 2009.
Under their guidance, Armin Strom has introduced some of the most groundbreaking advancements in modern horology. The development of in-house movements like the ARM09 and the creation of cutting-edge timepieces such as the Mirrored Force Resonance and Gravity Equal Force have reinforced the brand's leading position in the industry. Armin Strom's signature focus on "transparent mechanics" has captivated collectors and horology enthusiasts, offering a fascinating glimpse into the intricate inner workings of each timepiece.
The brand has introduced several editions that have garnered significant admiration, with one of the most notable being the "One Week Manufacture Edition" which was launched as an update to a previous model. Now, the brand announces its latest innovation with the release of the "One Week - Titanium Skeleton" watch, featuring new materials that distinguish it from its predecessors, further elevating its position in the world of high-end watchmaking.
The case of the watch is crafted from lightweight Grade 5 titanium, offering both durability and a comfortable wear. It has a diameter of 41 mm, a height of 10.60 mm, and a lug-to-lug measurement of 44.35 mm. The sapphire crystal and case back feature an anti-reflective treatment, ensuring optimal clarity and protection against glare. With a water resistance of 100 metres, the watch is suitable for everyday wear and light water activities.
The dial is stunningly openworked, now fully skeletonized to expose the intricate heart of its mechanics. This design combines striking aesthetics with precision engineering, reflecting Mr. Armin Strom’s philosophy and heritage of skeletonization. The small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock is cleverly skeletonized, allowing a captivating view of the power reserve level and escapement wheel, creating a 3D mechanical animation. The black minute ring and the skeletonized small-second dial are complemented by white printed minute track and indexes filled with Super-LumiNova, ensuring visibility in low light. The rhodium-finished hands are faceted and polished, also with Super-LumiNova filling, enhancing both functionality and elegance.
The watch is powered by the Armin Strom Manufacture Calibre ARM21-S, a meticulously crafted manual-winding movement that ensures a remarkable 7-day power reserve, keeping time accurate for an entire week without the need for winding. This movement features a balance wheel with 4 regulating screws for precise timekeeping, operating at a frequency of 25,200 vph (3.5Hz) . Comprising 194 components, the hand-finished details of the movement showcase the exceptional craftsmanship behind its design.
It comes with a titanium bracelet and a double-folding clasp. This watch is a limited edition of 100 pieces and is priced at CHF 39,000, approximately AED 162,400.
