Introducing Armin Strom Unveils the Mirrored Force Resonance Ruby

A five-piece edition distinguished by a natural ruby dial

When the Mirrored Force Resonance first appeared in 2016, it marked a decisive moment for Armin Strom. By developing a patented resonance clutch spring that physically links two balance wheels, the brand succeeded in miniaturising and stabilising a phenomenon that had largely remained the domain of experimental horology. The current generation refines that concept within a more streamlined case, and with the new Mirrored Force Resonance Ruby, Armin Strom introduces a version that contrasts its mechanical symmetry with the organic intensity of a natural gemstone.

The stainless steel case measures 43 mm in diameter and 11.55 mm in thickness. Its surfaces alternate between brushed flanks and polished upper planes, creating subtle visual tension. Sapphire crystals on both the front and back provide uninterrupted views of the architecture, while the updated profile, featuring shorter lugs and more controlled lines, improves balance on the wrist. Water resistance is rated at 30 metres.

Turning the watch over reveals the calibre. The layout is deliberately mirrored, with open bridges and gears arranged to echo the dial-side composition. Engraved bas-relief text decorates the mainplate, and every visible component is finished by hand in-house.

Time is displayed on an off-centred dial positioned on the right side, marked by white printed Roman numerals that lend a classical note to an otherwise contemporary structure. Cut from genuine natural ruby, the dial introduces tonal variations ranging from saturated red to pinkish hues, with subtle shifts in texture ensuring that no two examples are identical.

To the left, the mechanism remains fully exposed. Two balance wheels, each supported by its own gear train and barrel, are linked by the patented resonance clutch spring. Once synchronised, the oscillators stabilise one another, compensating for minor disturbances and improving chronometric consistency. Dual running seconds indicators, accented with ruby-coloured inlays, reinforce the visual symmetry. A pusher at 2 o’clock allows both seconds displays to be reset simultaneously, enabling precise synchronisation when setting the time.

The watch is powered by the manually wound calibre ARF21. Comprising 276 components and 39 jewels, it beats at 25,200 vph (3.5 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of 48 hours. It is fitted with a dark grey Alcantara strap accented by white stitching and subtle pink stitching beneath the lugs, secured by a stainless steel pin buckle. Limited to just five pieces, it is priced at CHF 85,000, approximately AED 400,500.
