A technical masterpiece reimagined in a limited stainless steel edition
Armin Strom presents a fresh interpretation of its in-house micro-rotor movement with the Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Salmon. This new edition distinguishes itself through a salmon-coloured PVD-coated mainplate, framed by a stainless steel case, offering a contemporary contrast that highlights the brand’s signature architectural approach.
Drawing inspiration from the System 78 collection, named after the shared birth year of the brand’s partners, the Gravity Equal Force, first introduced in 2019, marked a milestone in modern watchmaking. It was the world’s first automatic timepiece to feature a stop-work declutch mechanism integrated into the mainspring barrel, an innovation designed to ensure consistent torque delivery and stable chronometric performance throughout the entire power reserve.
The stainless steel case retains the familiar proportions of previous iterations, measuring 41 mm in diameter and 12.65 mm in thickness. Water-resistant to 30 metres, it features slender lugs and a refined bezel that maximise visibility of the movement’s three-dimensional architecture from every angle.
The dial is open-worked, revealing the movement’s intricate mechanics. The base plate is adorned with a guilloché-engraved pattern, hand-executed by Kari Voutilainen’s renowned dial atelier, Comblémine, and finished with a salmon PVD coating.
Positioned at 9 o’clock, the off-centered dial is made from grey sapphire crystal. Complementing it are rhodium-plated hour and minute hands, crafted in-house and filled with Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility in low-light conditions. A small seconds sub-dial appears between 7 and 8 o’clock.

On the right-hand side of the dial, three finger-style bridges, reminiscent of those found in traditional pocket watches, support the barrel at 5 o’clock and the unidirectionally winding micro-rotor at 1 o’clock. These bridges are hand-finished with meticulous attention to detail, a process that takes up to a full day for each one.
The transparent caseback offers a full view of the automatic ASB19 caliber, developed and manufactured entirely in-house by Armin Strom. Beating at a frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour), it delivers a power reserve of 72 hours.
At the heart of the movement lies the innovative barrel mechanism that delivers constant force to the balance wheel, hence the name Gravity Equal Force. This technical solution has been explained in greater detail in our previous coverage of the earlier editions.
Complementing the stainless steel case, the watch is fitted with a grey nubuck strap with matching stitching and keepers, secured by a stainless steel folding clasp. The Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Salmon is produced in a limited annual run of 25 pieces and is priced at CHF 27,500, approximately AED 126,600.
