Dial Crafted from Real Coffee Beans, Honoring Denmark’s Coffee Heritage
Arcanaut is a Scandinavian brand founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, by passionate enthusiasts with a shared love for horology. United by their dedication to craftsmanship, the team consists of makers, designers, and die-hard watch geeks, all driven to create exceptional mechanical timepieces with an experimental twist on Scandinavian design.
Manufactured in Denmark using predominantly Scandinavian materials and components, Arcanaut watches reflect a commitment to local craftsmanship. The brand has gained recognition for its innovative approach to watchmaking. In 2023, we highlighted Arcanaut’s creativity with the release of the Arc II Havender, featuring a dial layer crafted from Scandinavian mussel shells. This year, the brand is releasing the Arc II D'Arc Roast Limited Edition. This timepiece pays homage to Denmark's deep-rooted passion for coffee. The Arc II D'Arc Roast features a dial crafted from a composite of real coffee grounds, offering a unique texture and appearance that reflects the nation's coffee heritage.

The watch comes in a micro-blasted 316L stainless steel case with a beautiful mix of brushed and hand-polished finishes. The case measures 40.52mm in diameter and 13mm in thickness, and the dial is protected by a sapphire crystal. It features the proprietary "Pentablock" crown, whose shape perfectly follows the form of the Arc case. With a water resistance of 100 meters, the watch is well-suited for daily wear. The case back is adorned with a luminescent picture of a coffee mug and the inscription of “coffee time”.

The standout feature of this timepiece is its dial, made from a composite of finely ground coffee beans mixed with an ultra-hard, UV-resistant binding agent. This process results in a durable, millable material with a rich, mottled brown appearance, making each dial unique due to the natural variations in the coffee grounds. The laser-cut steel "Grand Paw" hands have been heat-treated to achieve a warm bronze tone, harmonizing beautifully with the dial's brown hues. Both the hands and the solid LumiCast indices (high-precision Swiss-made ceramic) are infused with Super-LumiNova, ensuring excellent legibility in low-light conditions. The design evokes the Scandinavian concept of "hygge," which means “a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.”
Powering the watch is the Swiss-made Soprod M100 automatic movement, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) with a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The watch comes fitted with an integrated FKM rubber strap in "Rex Brown,” complementing the dial's tones. However, customers have the option to choose from a range of colors. The watch is limited to 33 individually numbered pieces and is priced at USD 4,400, equivalent to AED 16,510.
