A unique piece in red gold marking the brand's first participation in the Only Watch auction
After a delay, the Only Watch auction is set to resume on May 10th this year, following the presentation of evidence that confirms its legitimacy. To commemorate its debut at Only Watch, Angelus is partnering with the winery Château Angelus to unveil the Chronodate Gold x Château Angelus, a one-of-a-kind piece crafted from 18K red gold.
The watch features a bezel, crown, case middle, and case back all crafted from 18k red gold (5N), while its bezel ring, and push-pieces are made from a durable carbon composite. The finishes exhibit a mix of satin-finished surfaces and polished chamfers, adding a touch of elegance to the robust design. With a diameter of 42.50 mm and a thickness of 14.25 mm, this timepiece balances size and presence on the wrist. The box sapphire crystal is treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides, ensuring optimal visibility, while the case back is also made of box sapphire crystal, similarly treated to minimize glare.
The dial of the Chronodate Gold x Château Angelus is made from freeze-dried wine lees. Positioned at the 6 o'clock mark is a red gold appliqué featuring an intricate engraving of the Château's bell. The layout of the watch includes a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock and a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o'clock. Additionally, the date display arcs around the dial, reminiscent of the original Chronodate model from 1942.
The inclusion of a chronograph movement is a nod to Angelus's heritage, as the brand was renowned for producing high-quality chronographs since the late 1930s. The watch is powered by the Caliber A-500, an in-house automatic column-wheel chronograph movement that operates at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and offers 60 hours of power reserve.
The watch comes with a black alligator leather strap featuring hand-sewn burgundy alligator leather lining. Additionally, it includes two extra straps: one in burgundy alligator leather and another in black rubber, all secured with an 18K red gold folding clasp. The watch's estimated bid price ranges from CHF 50,000 to 60,000, equivalent to AED 200,000 to 240,000. This unique piece will be auctioned to support funding for research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
