Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
A modern design that pays tribute to one of the Maison’s 1940s icons
Jaeger-LeCoultre brings contemporary allure to one of its classical signature complications with a new interpretation of the Master Control Calendar. The grained dial, presented in two shades of grey, pays subtle homage to the sector dials of the mid-20th century while offering a modern reinterpretation of a timeless design.
Renowned for the triple calendar moon-phase movements it developed in the 1940s, later adopted by several leading Maisons—Jaeger-LeCoultre reintroduced the complication in 2020 as part of the relaunched Master Control collection. Fifty years after creating its first triple calendar movements, the Maison inaugurated the Master Control line in 1992, further cementing its expertise in this classical genre.
The triple calendar, also known as a complete calendar, displays the day, date, month, and moon-phase. The days and months occupy the upper half of the dial, the moon-phase sits at six o’clock, while the dates are arranged around the periphery and indicated by a central hand.
The new dial retains the defining design codes of the Master Control collection: elongated triangular applied indexes complemented by Arabic numerals at 12, 3, and 9; faceted Dauphine hands, polished on one side and brushed on the other; and a finely balanced, classical arrangement of the indications.
In a fascinating twist on tradition, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces an ingenious solution to preserve the beauty of the moon-phase display. The red-tipped date hand incorporates a rapid-gliding feature, leaping across a 90-degree sector between the 15th and 16th of each month. This ensures the moon-phase is never obscured, while adding an element of dynamic animation to the dial.
At the heart of the watch lies the Calibre 866, directly inspired by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s “Triple Calendar” timepieces of the 1940s. While faithful to its historical indications—day, date, month, and moon-phase—it integrates the latest technical refinements, including an enhanced barrel and titanium screws for the oscillating weight. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the movement is composed of 344 components and offers a robust 70-hour power reserve, a benchmark standard in the Master Control line.
The watch is paired with a supple black calfskin leather strap secured by an interchangeable stainless steel double folding clasp. Limited to just 500 pieces, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Calendar is priced at USD 15,300, approximately AED 56,200.
