Gerald Charles Unveils Its Most Complex Timepiece, The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar

Gerald Charles, the independent Swiss watchmaking Maison founded by the great Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, unveils its most complicated watch since its reestablishment less than a decade ago. The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar, developed entirely in-house, marks a new chapter for the young and ambitious Maison as it continues to expand its repertoire of poetic complications.

In keeping with Gerald Charles’s “No Compromise” watchmaking philosophy, established by Mr. Genta more than a quarter of a century ago, the Masterlink Perpetual Calendar introduces an in-house, asymmetrical, automatic perpetual calendar calibre with a three-counter display.

Sunburst

Sunburst

Is a pattern used in watchmaking to create a surface finishing that resembles radiating sun rays. This pattern is achieved by applying symmetrical and equal lines on the watch dial. It enhances the attractiveness of the watch and adds beauty and uniqueness to it.

The sunburst pattern is created by engraving or etching radial lines that emanate from the center of the dial and extend outward. The lines gradually become thinner and more spaced as they move away from the center, creating a stunning effect of light and shadow.

Difference between Sunburst and Sunray pattern:

Although "Sunburst" and Sunray patterns are sometimes used interchangeably, there is a slight difference between the two. "Sunburst" refers to the pattern created by radial lines that resemble sun rays emanating from the center. On the other hand, Sunray refers to a pattern created by straight or curved lines branching out from a single point, resembling sun rays. This pattern can be seen on the dial and edges of the watch, while Sunburst is more closely associated with the watch dial.
