The Excalibur Bi-Retrograde Calendar by Roger Dubuis

This year, Roger Dubuis celebrates its 30th anniversary, and for the occasion, the company pays tribute to its co-founder’s favourite complication: the bi-retrograde display.

This function, previously featured in the Excalibur Grande Complication alongside a dozen other highly complex mechanisms, takes centre stage once again. The Maison has also introduced a less complicated, more classic edition to further honour the bi-retrograde display.

Also referred to as “the ecliptic counters” by the Maison a nod to their elliptical shape and distinctive role in indicating the months and date the design showcases a symmetrical dial layout. Enhanced by refined detailing, it pays homage to the Maison’s early creations from 1996.

monopusher

A chronograph monopusher, also called a single-button chronograph, is a specialized type of watch with a single button to control its stopwatch function, offering simplicity and elegance in design. Often sought after for their historical significance and streamlined appeal.

Modern chronograph watches as we know them today, have two buttons: one above the crown and one below the crown. you will press the top button to start and stop the chronograph timing mechanism, then press the bottom button to reset it.

For monopusher watches, there is only a single pusher used to operate the chronograph function. This button can be found above or below the crown, but is also sometimes built into the crown, allowing for a chronograph with a seemingly buttonless case design.
