Hercules

Hercules Watches is a Swiss brand revived in 2022 with a strong heritage narrative tied to mountain exploration and rugged reliability. The name and mythos recall historic watches used in the 1950s, particularly on the 1953 Nanga Parbat expedition, a defining moment where a Hercules timepiece accompanied Austrian mountaineer Hermann Buhl on the summit, helping forge the brand’s reputation for durability and robustness.

The Hercules name originally comes from a German watch brand made by Henzi & Pfaff in Pforzheim, Germany. They were active in the 1950s and early 60s, producing rugged, reliable watches under the Hercules label.

The brand gained early fame because a Hercules watch was worn by Austrian mountaineer Hermann Buhl during his successful 1953 ascent of Nanga Parbat (8,126 m) — a major Himalayan peak. That expedition helped build the brand’s reputation for durability and adventure.
